For Dynamax Moltres, begin with an eligible Rock attacker and a plan for surviving between Max phases. Its Fire/Flying typing makes Rock doubly effective, so the attacker’s actual move type matters.
Dynamax Rhyperior is the source’s first candidate; a prepared Gigalith is an alternative. Water and Electric can fill gaps when Rock coverage is missing. The guide covers appraisal CP, roles, and execution rather than promising current boss availability.
Preparation at a Glance
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Moltres typing | Fire/Flying |
| Primary weakness | Double Rock weakness |
| Other weaknesses | Water and Electric |
| Primary candidate | Dynamax Rhyperior |
| Rock alternatives | Eligible Gigalith, Regirock, or Omastar |
| Survival candidates | Eligible Blissey, Snorlax, or Regirock |
| Beginner example | Two survival slots and one attacker |
| Perfect catch CP | 1,980 normally; 2,475 weather boosted |
Every listed species assumes you own an eligible Dynamax or Gigantamax individual. An ordinary individual of the same species cannot enter. See official Max Battle guidance for eligibility.
Why Rock Comes First
Both Fire and Flying are weak to Rock, combining into Moltres’s double weakness.
Water and Electric are singly effective. With otherwise comparable preparation, check suitable Rock damage first.
Do not ignore level and Max Moves. A barely upgraded Rock candidate may be less useful than a fully prepared alternative.
Perfect Catch CP: 1,980 or 2,475
The source lists these 15/15/15 encounter values:
| Encounter | Perfect CP |
|---|---|
| Normal, level 20 | 1,980 |
| Weather boosted, level 25 | 2,475 |
These are catch-screen CP values for 15 Attack, 15 Defense, and 15 HP, not the boss’s battle CP. Different powered-up levels need appraisal rather than this shortcut. See the source’s Dynamax Moltres CP reference
Recommended Rock Counters

Rhyperior: Primary Rock Damage Candidate
If you own an eligible Dynamax Rhyhorn, consider its evolution and the resources required for Rhyperior.
Specifically, check the Rock Fast Attack Smack Down. For ordinary Dynamax attacks, Fast Attack type determines Max Attack type; a Rock species does not automatically produce Rock Max damage. Compare the source’s Rhyperior moves reference.
Gigalith: Compare an Existing Investment
A prepared eligible Gigalith can be considered when Rhyperior is missing or would require more resources. Check the individual’s moves and level first.
It also needs a Rock Fast Attack for ordinary Rock Max damage. Building the meter and attacking during the Max phase are separate jobs.
Regirock and Omastar: Additional Role Options
Regirock’s defense can support absorbing damage, particularly against suitable Fire or Flying moves, while preserving the main attacker.
Omastar’s Water/Rock typing resists Fire well. A Rock Max role still requires the appropriate available Fast Attack; inspect actual moves rather than typing alone.
Blissey and Snorlax for Survival
An attacker that faints before its Max phase cannot deliver its planned damage.
An eligible Blissey offers high HP; an already prepared eligible Snorlax is another survival candidate.
Adding a tank does not automatically stabilize the group. Check actual damage taken and assign support through Max Guard or Max Spirit. See official Max Pokémon help
Water and Electric Alternatives
If Rock coverage is missing, compare these eligible Water and Electric candidates. They are role options, not an absolute performance ranking.
| Type | Candidate | Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Electric | Toxtricity | Damage role; check survival |
| Electric | Zapdos | Watch Moltres’s Rock move Ancient Power |
| Electric | Electivire or Raikou | Compare level and Max Moves |
| Water | Blastoise | Damage and survival roles |
| Water | Inteleon or Kingler | Damage candidates requiring health management |
| Water | Suicune | A survival-support option |
Ordinary Dynamax attacks follow Fast Attack type; Gigantamax Pokémon have dedicated G-Max attacks. Changing a Fast Attack does not change every G-Max attack type. See official Dynamax and Gigantamax guidance
Beginner Team and Battle Sequence
One beginner example uses eligible Blissey and Regirock for survival with Dynamax Rhyperior for damage. It is a starting framework, not a mandatory composition.
Substitute a prepared Gigalith, or Water/Electric coverage if Rock is absent. Adjust for the group’s resources and roles.
Think in this sequence:
-
Open with a survivable Pokémon. Build the Max Meter while managing incoming attacks.
-
Prepare your main attacker for the Max phase. Switch appropriately to deliver the chosen Rock damage.
-
Divide attack, healing, and shielding as needed. Preserving the group can create another damage phase.
-
Review the cause of failure. Early faints suggest survival or healing problems; surviving without finishing suggests damage, move, or upgrade gaps.
FAQ

How Many Players Should Join?
Ordinary Dynamax Battles allow up to four. Beginners can favor three or four prepared participants, but no group count alone guarantees completion. See official Max Battle guidance
Can Ordinary Rhyperior Enter?
No. Rhyperior must be an eligible Dynamax individual; an ordinary one cannot enter.
Is Rhyperior Mandatory?
No. Compare eligible Rock alternatives and prepared Water or Electric attackers while balancing the group’s survival and damage.
Should I Check Whether Moltres Is Currently Available?
Yes. This is a preparation guide, not a claim about the current Power Spot rotation.
Before leaving, check individual eligibility, attacker move type, and survival roles. The source-listed 1,980 and 2,475 values identify perfect Moltres at the stated encounter levels, not after arbitrary upgrades.
Regional and version notes
This localization uses English Pokémon, move, and item names. Global schedules marked local time follow your play location; Korea-only events use KST and the Sendai event uses JST. Ended events are historical, not renewed reward offers. Tactical recommendations and upgrade priorities are editorial guidance, not guaranteed wins or live performance rankings. This is a team-building framework, not a current Moltres rotation notice. The 1,980 and 2,475 perfect-encounter CP values are retained from the source for levels 20 and 25; other levels need appraisal. Only an eligible individual can enter, and ordinary Dynamax and dedicated G-Max attacks use different typing rules. Some illustrations are retained from the Korean edition and may include Korean labels. Use the English article text for instructions.
