Pokémon GO's September 2026 calendar moved from Mega Finale into the Twilight Trails season, bringing changing Max Battle and raid lineups. This is a retrospective of that September plan, not a notice of currently available bosses.
You did not need to spend Raid Passes or Max Particles on every activity. Separate upgrades your team can use from Pokédex and Shiny goals.
September's Original Priority List
| Priority | Suggested Pokémon | Main goal |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dynamax Ralts | Develop Gardevoir for Fairy-type damage |
| 2 | Dynamax Rhyhorn | Develop Rhyperior for Rock-type damage |
| 3 | Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres | Collect the Legendary Dynamax birds |
| 4 | Dynamax Eevee | Glaceon and other type-specific tank options |
| 5 | Zacian and Zamazenta | Good IVs and Shiny collecting |
| Optional | Mega Venusaur | Fill a Grass-type Mega role |
The source prioritized Dynamax Ralts and Rhyhorn, then the Legendary Kanto birds. That was a roster-building recommendation for the stated rotation, not a fixed priority for every Trainer.
September's Mega Finale

Kalos Mega Evolutions
Mega Finale featured the new Kalos starter Mega Evolutions: Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja.
Branching Timed Research let you choose Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie, determining your GO Pass path and rewards. The free track included Candy and Mega Energy for the selected line.
Preparing for Mega Mewtwo and Other Raids
Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y featured among the event's raids. Prioritize missing first Mega Evolutions over extra Energy for a Pokémon already well supplied.
With limited passes, a Pokédex entry and enough Energy for the first Mega Evolution were reasonable stopping points.
Dynamax Options in the September Plan
Dynamax Eevee
Eevee offered multiple evolution choices. Glaceon could fill an Ice-type attacking role, while other Evolutions could take selected incoming attacks as tanks in Max Battles.
Choose the role your team needs before evolving a useful individual.
Dynamax Ralts and Rhyhorn
Ralts could evolve into Gardevoir for Fairy-type attacks against suitable Dragon- or Fighting-type Max Battle targets. Check that its Fast Attack produces the intended Fairy-type Max Attack.
Rhyhorn could evolve into Rhyperior. It was a useful candidate for a missing Rock role or for preparing against the Legendary birds, with the appropriate Rock-type Fast Attack.
Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
The source's September lineup included the returning Dynamax Kanto birds. Max Battles used Max Particles rather than Raid Passes.
Preparing a suitable Dynamax Rhyperior could help against these targets. Trainers prioritizing Legendary collection could budget Particles around those opportunities instead of spending them on every ordinary encounter.
Dynamax Sobble
Sobble could evolve into Inteleon for Water damage. Where available, Gigantamax Inteleon's dedicated Water-type G-Max attack was the stronger attacking option discussed in the source.
An existing Gigantamax Inteleon could make repeated Dynamax Sobble battles a lower priority.
Legendary Raid Priorities
Zacian and Zamazenta
Zacian and Zamazenta were useful collection targets, but these Hero of Many Battles raids did not award the Energy required for their Crowned forms.
Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta require matching Crowned Sword Energy or Crowned Shield Energy from the applicable sources. Their Hero-form raids were therefore primarily an IV and Shiny opportunity.
Using free passes while saving premium passes for a relevant Crowned raid was one possible budget plan.
Ultra Beasts: The North American Difference
The original Korean article emphasized Xurkitree because it discussed an Asia-Pacific rotation. North American Trainers need to check their own regional boss instead. Official regional assignments distinguish Buzzwole in the Americas and Greenland, Pheromosa in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, and Xurkitree in Asia-Pacific; this is not a statement that those bosses are available today.
A North American Trainer seeking Xurkitree or Pheromosa needed access to a raid in the appropriate region, such as an eligible Remote Raid invitation. Pheromosa's high offense and low bulk did not make it a mandatory Remote Pass purchase.
Xerneas
Xerneas was a possible target for a missing Fairy role, good IVs, or a Shiny. The source suggested concentrating suitable attempts around its announced Raid Hour rather than chasing every raid.
Mega Raid Priorities
Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom
Mega Beedrill offers Bug/Poison typing, while Mega Houndoom offers Dark/Fire typing. If you lacked their Mega Evolutions, the first Energy requirement was a practical target.
Weedle-line and Houndour-line Spotlight Hours also offered chances to find usable individuals and Candy, allowing raids to focus on Energy.
Mega Venusaur, Mega Malamar, and Mega Victreebel
Mega Venusaur could fill a Grass-type Mega gap. Its priority depended on your existing team and Energy supply.
If earlier events had already supplied Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel, more raids could wait. Check your Mega Pokédex and Energy stock first.
September Shadow Raids
The original September plan listed Shadow Giratina early in the month, followed by Shadow Thundurus. This is historical lineup information, not a claim about today's Shadow boss.
The source treated Shadow Thundurus as an optional IV or future-moves project rather than a required top-tier build. That dated assessment is not a current performance ranking.
September Spotlight Hours

Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill
The featured line offered Candy and potential Mega Beedrill candidates. The source also noted a transfer-Candy bonus as an opportunity to organize storage.
Houndour and Houndoom
These encounters offered Mega Houndoom candidates and Candy. Raids could then supply Energy rather than serving as your only source of usable individuals.
The Then-Unannounced Feature
One entry was still unrevealed when the source was written and was listed with a catch-Stardust bonus. Star Pieces and a supply of balls were preparation suggestions, not confirmation of a particular species or current bonus.
Rattata
The source's Rattata entry combined evolution XP with an increased chance of XXS Rattata. It suggested this for collectors still working on the tiny-Rattata medal, without promising every XXS catch would qualify.
Budgeting a September Play Plan
First, decide where Max Particles help most. The source recommended securing Ralts and Rhyhorn, then reserving resources for the Legendary birds.
Second, avoid treating Hero-form Zacian and Zamazenta raids as a source of Crowned Energy. Their IV and Shiny value was a separate goal.
Third, target the Mega Energy you actually need for initial unlocks. Suitable individuals could also come from wild encounters or Spotlight Hours.
Finally, use Star Pieces, Lucky Eggs, and passes when the relevant bonuses fit your activity. Your roster and collection goals provide a better plan than trying to attend every event.
What the September Plan Prioritized
The author's first choices were Dynamax Ralts, Rhyhorn, and the Kanto birds. Hero-form Zacian and Zamazenta were collection targets, while Mega raids could stop at useful Energy milestones.
That approach concentrated limited passes and Particles on specific needs. The September windows discussed here are over; use current announcements to plan your next session.
Regional and version notes
English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global local-time schedules follow your play location, including North America. Korea-only schedules remain KST and Japanese airport schedules remain JST. Ended event windows do not provide new claim opportunities. Team choices and tier comparisons are editorial, not guaranteed catches, wins, or a continuously updated ranking. September’s boss and Spotlight entries are retained as historical source information. The Ultra Beast reference establishes regional assignments, not a current or independently reconstructed September raid calendar. Only eligible Max-capable individuals can enter Max Battles; their attacking type must match their actual move. Crowned form Energy does not come from ordinary Hero-form Zacian or Zamazenta raids.
