Reaching Trainer level 75 in Pokémon GO requires more than XP. The source's level-up plan combines Platinum medals, Great Throws, Egg hatches, and Gift sends after reaching level 74 and activating the next research.
The timing issue is the 500-Gift task. Sending your available Gifts before the task activates does not give that task retroactive progress. Depending on your remaining supply and recipients, that can push your planned finish to another day.
The Source's Level 75 Requirements
The source records 133,353,000 total XP for level 75, including 11,000,000 XP after level 74. These detailed figures are retained as the source's task reference; check your current in-game level-up screen before planning around them.
It lists these four research requirements alongside XP:
| Level 75 task | Recorded requirement |
|---|---|
| Platinum medals | 34 earned |
| Great Throws | 999 successful throws |
| Egg hatches | 75 |
| Gifts | Send 500 |
Previously earned medals can satisfy the medal requirement. For action counters such as throws, hatches, and Gift sends, first confirm that the research is active and watch the counter advance rather than expecting earlier actions to carry over.
Why Gift Timing Matters

The research leading to level 75 becomes available after you reach level 74.
Gifts sent before that activation should not be budgeted as progress toward the newly active 500-Gift counter.
For example, sending your supply in the morning and reaching level 74 that afternoon can leave fewer sends available for the task that day. Whether you actually lose a day depends on remaining Gift sources, limits, and eligible friends.
If you are close to level 74, a practical order is:
- Keep the Gifts intended for the new task.
- Finish level 74's XP and research requirements first.
- Confirm the level 75 research has activated.
- Send Gifts after activation.
- Check that the task counter increases.
Planning the 500 Gift Sends

You need both a supply of Gifts and friends who can receive them.
Normally you can send a friend one Gift per day, and an unopened previous Gift prevents sending another to that friend. Check any current exceptions or event rules.
Before the level-up, review which friends regularly open Gifts. There is no need to change your Friend List merely because someone has a different playing schedule.
Useful preparation includes:
- Coordinate with active friends where practical.
- Prioritize recipients who can accept another Gift.
- Avoid exhausting the intended Gift supply just before activation.
- Carry available Gifts into the level-up session.
- Plan an accessible route with stops and Gyms for resupply.
- Use Buddy-delivered Gifts when available.
- Check confirmed events or pass bonuses affecting Gift collection.
The source uses roughly 100 daily Gifts from stops and Gyms as a baseline example. Your actual allowance can change with progression, pass milestones, and events; carried Gifts and Buddy deliveries are separate factors.
At a planning rate of 100 qualifying sends per day, 500 sends take five days. That is arithmetic under an example rate, not a universal five-day minimum or guaranteed finish time.
Does the Friend Have to Open the Gift for the Task?
The recorded task asks you to send Gifts. A successful send advances that counter; you do not wait for that newly sent Gift to be opened before it counts.
Opening still matters for later sends to the same friend: they must clear the earlier Gift before receiving another under the normal rule.
Friendship progression and this send counter are different systems. Activities such as opening Gifts, raiding, or trading can affect friendship, while this task specifically records qualifying sends.
Planning 999 Great Throws
The source expected the throwing task to require substantial active play.
Choose encounters with a comfortable target circle and practice a consistent release. Throw accuracy matters more than simply opening many encounters.
Nanab Berries can reduce movement and make repeated attempts easier.
Raid catches may provide a large circle and several throws, but buying passes solely to inflate a throw counter is unnecessary.
Events featuring many of one species can help you learn a consistent distance and timing.
Planning 75 Egg Hatches

Completion time depends on your available Eggs, walking, and Incubators.
Short-distance Eggs can make sense in the infinite Incubator. A Super Incubator saves more absolute distance on a longer Egg, but that is not a requirement to buy one for the task.
The official Daily Adventure Egg is a free 1 km Egg in its own Incubator for eligible Trainers. Check the active research counter to confirm how your hatch is credited rather than assuming every special Egg has identical task treatment.
If an Egg is about to hatch around the level-up, confirm research activation first. A hatch before the counter appears should not be assumed to count retroactively.
Multiple Incubators can support parallel hatches, but a lower-cost approach is steady progress with free supplies and suitable short-distance Eggs.
Preparing 34 Platinum Medals
The recorded medal requirement includes medals earned earlier.
If you already qualify, it can complete when the research activates. Otherwise, compare your existing Gold medals and remaining progress rather than starting a difficult new project without a plan.
Possible categories to review include:
- Type-specific catches
- PokéStop visits
- Egg hatches
- Raid victories
- Gym battles
- Berry feeding
- Field Research completion
- Friendship and trading achievements
- Regional Pokédex completion
An event focused on a needed type can also advance its catch medal. Align medal goals with activities you already intend to play.
Avoid leaving a hard-to-arrange distance-trade or regional collection milestone as your only remaining path if a more accessible medal is close.
Combining the Tasks into One Route
A route with accessible stops and wild encounters can support Gift collection, hatching distance, and Great Throw practice together.
Reach level 74, confirm research activation, then send the carried Gifts and start the Eggs you intend to hatch.
As you walk, replenish Gifts at available stops and attempt Great Throws on suitable encounters. Check task counters periodically instead of assuming every action is credited automatically.
That same session may advance nearby PokéStop or type-catch medals if you still need them.
Before Your Level-Up Session
If level 74 is close, check:
- Have you completed its required XP and research?
- Have you preserved the Gifts you intend to send after activation?
- Has the level 75 research actually appeared?
- Can enough friends currently receive Gifts?
- Are any Eggs about to hatch?
- Do you already have the recorded 34 Platinum medals?
- Do you have a practical route for Gift resupply?
The Main Timing Lesson
Do not spend the Gift supply intended for a new counter before the research is active.
Earlier sends do not retroactively fill the 500-Gift task. The possible delay depends on your actual supply, limits, and recipients, not a universal extra-day rule.
Confirm the level-up and research screen first, then begin the planned sends, hatches, and throws. The task numbers above are the source's reference; the active in-game screen is the final check for your account.
Regional and version notes
English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global schedules marked local time follow your play location, including North America. Ended event, ticket, and reward windows are historical. Counter choices, upgrade order, and efficiency suggestions are editorial guidance, not guaranteed wins, catches, or a current measured performance ranking. The exact level-75 XP and task counts are retained as the source’s reference, not independently verified by completing that level on an account. The official announcement establishes the level-80 system and Daily Adventure Egg, not every detailed level-75 task. Five days is an example at 100 qualifying Gift sends per day, not a universal minimum. Check activation and actual counter credit before starting.
