Gigantamax Rillaboom Prep: August 1 Team Roles and Max Particle Planning

URITRIP·July 28, 2026

The source's late-July 2026 plan led into Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day on August 1. It paired weekday Kyurem and Bidoof activities with the weekend's increased Particle collection. These event windows have ended.

Preparation meant eligible Pokémon, appropriate Max Moves, resource planning, and a coordinated group. Powering up one attacker alone was not a full six-star battle plan.

The Source's Late-July Calendar

  • July 28, 10:00 a.m.–August 3, 8:00 p.m.: Choose Your Path: Fairy Trail Timed Research, as recorded by the source
  • July 29, 6:00–7:00 p.m.: Kyurem Raid Hour
  • July 30, 6:00–7:00 p.m.: Bidoof Spotlight Hour
  • July 31: Friendship Friday
  • August 1, 2:00–5:00 p.m.: Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day
  • August 2: Scenic Sunday
  • August 4, 10:00 a.m.: July GO Pass point earning ended

Kyurem and Bidoof: Different Goals

Kyurem Raid Hour

The source listed Kyurem from July 29 and its Raid Hour that evening, local time. It also recorded a Wednesday in-person Rare Candy XL bonus; that was a seasonal calendar condition, not a permanent entitlement established here.

Dragon/Ice Kyurem is weak to Dragon, Fairy, Fighting, Rock, and Steel attacks. Mega Rayquaza, Dusk Mane Necrozma, or Mega Gardevoir were examples to compare with the actual attacks and group you had.

The source listed Mega Aggron during the same period and favored Kyurem IVs or Candy for its own limited-pass plan. A missing Mega unlock could justify a different priority.

Bidoof Spotlight Hour

The source recorded Bidoof on July 30, 6:00–7:00 p.m. local time, with 2× transfer Candy. That is distinct from catch Candy and is an ended schedule entry.

Its suggested use was organizing Pokémon that you had already decided to transfer. Tag candidates in advance so a busy hour does not turn into rushed decisions.

Keep trade candidates, special moves, and background collections separate. Favorite anything you intend to retain before considering a bulk transfer.

Preparing an Eligible Rillaboom Team

Grass-type Rillaboom is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug, Ice, and Poison attacks. Max Battles usually require Dynamax- or Gigantamax-capable individuals, with specifically supported exceptions such as Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta.

Attacking Options to Compare

The source proposed these examples; a choice must have been available in the relevant event context and must use an appropriate attack:

  • Gigantamax Charizard
  • Gigantamax Cinderace where already available
  • Dynamax Moltres
  • Dynamax Charizard
  • Dynamax Metagross as a more situational eligible option, not super-effective Steel damage

An ordinary Dynamax attack's type follows the Fast Attack. Dedicated G-Max moves are an exception with a fixed species-specific attack. Use the actual Fire or Flying Max attack you intend; changing a G-Max Pokémon's Fast Attack does not turn its dedicated move into another type.

For the chosen attacker, improve its relevant Max attack and bring the Pokémon to a useful level as resources allow. The exact upgrade order should reflect your group and current costs.

Defensive and Support Options

An eligible Pokémon resisting Grass can help in the build-up phase, but check Rillaboom's full moveset rather than assuming it attacks only with Grass moves.

  • Corviknight, if Max-capable
  • Charizard, if Max-capable
  • Moltres, if Max-capable
  • Metagross, if Max-capable
  • Crowned Shield Zamazenta under its supported Max rules

Max Guard supports survival, while Max Spirit heals your subgroup. Allocate attack, shielding, and healing upgrades according to the actual team roles rather than treating one order as mandatory for every Trainer.

How a Gigantamax Battle Group Works

Up to 40 Trainers can participate, divided into groups of four or fewer. Each Trainer can bring up to three eligible Pokémon; the 40-player maximum is not a requirement to have exactly 40 people.

Building the Meter and Staying Alive

A possible plan is to use a durable eligible Pokémon while building the Max Meter, then switch to the intended attacker before the Max phase.

Watch targeted-attack prompts and swipe to dodge when appropriate. Swiping to collect available energy icons also helps fill the meter.

During the Max phase, choose according to the situation:

  • Use the appropriate Max or G-Max attack when offense is needed.
  • Use Max Guard when shielding your active Pokémon is the priority.
  • Use Max Spirit when the subgroup needs healing.

If your whole party faints, you can still cheer to help surviving teammates fill their meters. It is not an ordinary raid relobby mechanic.

Max Particle Planning

Rillaboom's event ran August 1, 2:00–5:00 p.m. local time. The official announcement placed Gigantamax Battles at Power Spots with additional active spots and faster refreshes.

The announced event features included:

  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
  • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots
  • Up to three Special Trades for the day
  • 2× Particles from exploring during the separate exploration window
  • One-quarter Adventuring distance for exploration Particles
  • The source also recorded a July GO Pass uncapped earning period; that was a separate pass condition, not a Rillaboom ticket benefit.

The exploration window ran midnight–5:00 p.m. local time on August 1. The announcement required collecting already-available Nearby Particles for the relevant bonuses to apply.

Normal Max Particle entry costs are consumed on a successful win. A failed attempt can be retried after adjusting the group or team, subject to the actual battle and resource conditions.

Catch Checks and Ticket Choices

The source records 239 base Attack for Rillaboom and favored suitable high-Attack candidates for its attacking role. A useful non-perfect individual could still meet the group's needs.

Using the source's recorded stats, perfect-IV catch CP is 1,899 at level 20 and 2,374 at level 25. Check the actual encounter level and appraisal; these are catch CP figures, not boss CP or a universal prediction for every encounter.

Shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom became possible during the event. The official notice did not supply an exact Shiny rate, so no fixed number of attempts guaranteed one.

The US$4.99 event ticket offered:

  • One Max Mushroom through Timed Research
  • 25,000 XP through Timed Research
  • 6,400 Max Particles through Timed Research
  • A separate 2× Max Battle XP bonus

The research XP was not 25,000 base XP per battle. The ticket was optional, and its historical availability has ended; a first catch goal did not by itself require buying it.

Other Late-July Rewards in the Source

The source recorded July 31, 11:59 p.m. local time as the 10th-anniversary-coin Gimmighoul encounter cutoff through Coin Bag and Golden Lure activities. It described possible Shiny or background outcomes and the costume's inability to evolve. These are historical source details, not a current offer.

Its July 31 Friendship Friday entry recorded two extra Special Trades, 20% less trade Stardust, an increased Lucky chance, and two guaranteed trade Candy XL for eligible Trainers level 31 and above. Check the specific season rather than treating those numbers as permanent Friday rules.

Its August 2 Scenic Sunday entry recorded more encounters along Routes, reduced Buddy Candy distance during the applicable Route activity, and up to three Mateo encounters. Those are dated calendar conditions, not today's guaranteed rewards.

The Original Rillaboom Checklist

Before the event, the source recommended:

  • Prepare eligible Fire or Flying Max attackers.
  • Unlock and improve the relevant attack and support moves.
  • Bring Revives and Potions for use between attempts.
  • Check the order for claiming August 1 exploration Particles.
  • Find accessible Power Spots and the community meeting point.
  • Agree on intended Special Trades.
  • Finish feasible July GO Pass tasks before its own cutoff.

The six-star plan called for a coordinated group, survival options, and appropriate Max Moves as well as an attacker. These preparations explain the past event; they do not reopen its schedule or promise a clear with a particular headcount.

Counter choices, upgrade order, and efficiency suggestions are editorial guidance, not guaranteed wins, catches, or a current measured performance ranking. The late-July daily calendar, Gimmighoul costume details, and season-specific Friday/Sunday bonuses are retained historical source records, not independently reconstructed current schedules. The official Rillaboom announcement confirms its own event and ticket conditions. Catch CP examples refer to the source’s listed stats at levels 20 and 25, not boss CP.
