Daily Adventure Incense Guide and a Fighting Cup Toxicroak Build

URITRIP·August 28, 2026

Daily Adventure Incense gives Pokémon GO Trainers another chance to encounter Pokémon they do not often see in the wild.

Unlike simply staying in one spot with an item active, this feature is built around moving. During its short duration you can encounter a range of Pokémon, potentially including rare species and the Galarian Legendary birds.

Activate it after checking your walking route and catching supplies so you can make better use of the limited window.

What Is Daily Adventure Incense?

Daily Adventure Incense is a special Incense available once per day. Its standard duration is 15 minutes after activation, with encounters attracted while you move. Event or pass bonuses may modify that duration.

Its encounter pool can differ from ordinary wild spawns, including a chance of Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, or Galarian Moltres.

A rare encounter is not a guaranteed catch. Ordinary-color Galarian birds can flee quickly; do not assume every rare encounter follows exactly the same catch and flee rules.

What to Prepare Before Activating It

Organize your Item Bag and Pokémon Storage before starting the timer.

Bring Enough Poké Balls

Keep Ultra Balls for difficult encounters and sufficient Poké Balls or Great Balls for the ordinary catches you want too.

Opening the shop or stopping at PokéStops because you ran out of balls uses time you could have spent checking encounters.

Keep Golden Razz Berries Ready

For a difficult ordinary-color Galarian bird, a Golden Razz Berry, Ultra Ball, and well-aimed Excellent curveball improve your chances without guaranteeing a catch. If you own a Master Ball, deciding whether to spend it is a separate resource choice.

Clear Pokémon Storage

Full storage can cost encounters while you sort Pokémon. Around 30 open slots is a practical preparation target, not an activation requirement.

Getting More from an Incense Walk

Keep walking at a comfortable, steady pace rather than relying on stationary use. More encounter opportunities do not guarantee a particular rare Pokémon.

Choose a Straightforward Walking Route

A route with reliable GPS and room to walk—such as a park path, riverside walk, or pedestrian trail—is easier to use than repeatedly circling a tiny area.

Avoid Spending the Whole Timer on Routine Catches

You need not use a Berry and chase an Excellent throw on every common Pokémon. Keep routine catches manageable, reserving your best supplies and attention for your priority encounters.

Do Not Rely Only on Auto-Catching

An auto-catcher is convenient but does not give the same control over Berry and ball choices. Check the screen for encounters you particularly want to catch.

Why Croagunk Can Be a Useful Catch

Legendary birds are not the only possible goal. Catching Pokémon for GO Battle League can also make the walk worthwhile, when those species are in the current encounter pool.

Croagunk evolves into Toxicroak with 50 Croagunk Candy. Toxicroak's Poison/Fighting typing gives it a different matchup profile from many Fighting-types.

In a suitable Fighting-only format, its Poison typing helps it resist opposing Fighting attacks while applying its own pressure.

Why Toxicroak Can Work in Fighting Cup

Restricted cups create a different field from open Great League because not every Pokémon or coverage combination is eligible.

Toxicroak resists Fighting damage and can use same-type Fighting attacks. Mud Bomb adds coverage against relevant Poison- or Steel-types, subject to the opponent's full typing.

Psychic damage is its major vulnerability. A Fighting Cup that excludes Psychic-type Pokémon removes some obvious threats, though eligible opponents can still carry Psychic-type moves. Check the exact cup rules.

A Toxicroak Moveset to Consider

The source proposed this baseline for eligible Fighting Cup formats; it is a starting point to compare with current move options:

  • Fast Attack: Counter
  • Charged Attack: Mud Bomb
  • Second Charged Attack: Sludge Bomb

Counter provides Fighting pressure and energy, with its current balance values affecting the tradeoff. Mud Bomb offers relatively accessible pressure and useful coverage against suitable Poison-type opponents.

Sludge Bomb is a heavier option for neutral damage or a matchup where the opponent expects Mud Bomb.

Seasonal changes can add moves or alter the best set. Check the current rules and move performance before building; this article does not establish Counter as the best choice in every present format.

Choosing Toxicroak IVs

For the CP 1,500 Fighting Cup and Great League formats discussed here, the finished Pokémon must stay at or below 1,500 CP. Low Attack with higher Defense and HP can often fit more total stats under that cap.

You do not need to wait indefinitely for a theoretically perfect specimen. For a short-lived cup, a usable eligible build can be more practical than never fielding one.

Before spending resources, check:

  • The finished power-up or evolution will not exceed 1,500 CP.
  • You can afford the Candy and Stardust for a second Charged Attack.
  • The intended moves are currently obtainable on that individual.
  • Toxicroak is eligible in the active cup.

Playing Toxicroak in Fighting Cup

Toxicroak is not a wall. Trying to absorb every attack can remove it before it uses its energy.

Build energy with Counter and use Mud Bomb to pressure shields where the matchup supports it. If a switch is likely, saving a little energy for the incoming Pokémon can be worthwhile.

Flying- or Ground-type coverage can be dangerous. When possible, switch out of a poor matchup rather than losing Toxicroak unnecessarily.

It can apply pressure early with shields up or close a game by using stored energy after shields are gone. Neither role is automatic; team support and energy matter.

Combining an Incense Walk with a Toxicroak Project

Skipping every ordinary encounter while looking only for rare Pokémon also skips possible Candy and Stardust for a useful build.

When Croagunk appears, catching it can help even if its IVs are not ideal. Candy is still useful after you find a PvP specimen; a Pinap Berry can increase the Candy from a successful catch.

A practical sequence is:

  1. Clear storage and organize items before activating Incense.
  2. Prepare Ultra Balls and Golden Razz Berries.
  3. Activate it on a suitable walking route.
  4. Check priority rare encounters and Croagunk when available.
  5. Compare caught Croagunk for their intended PvP build.
  6. Evolve a suitable one, stay within 1,500 CP, and obtain the intended moves.

Daily Adventure Incense FAQ

Does it work while standing still?

Its attracted encounters are designed around movement. Ordinary wild Pokémon nearby can still appear while you are stationary; do not confuse those with a successful Daily Adventure Incense walk.

Will a Galarian Legendary bird always appear?

No. Neither a bird encounter nor a catch is guaranteed. You can complete a walk without seeing one.

Can Toxicroak also be used in Great League?

It can be an option, but its value depends on current move balance and the field. Check the role it would fill in your actual team.

Does it need a second Charged Attack?

Mud Bomb alone allows basic play but limits coverage. If you intend to use Toxicroak regularly in GO Battle League, a second Charged Attack is generally worth planning for.
