Twilight Trails Overview and Japan’s Airport Bulbasaur Location Background Event

URITRIP·August 26, 2026

Pokémon GO's Twilight Trails season preview introduced a dusk-themed setting alongside Paldea Pokémon, Mega Evolutions, and new Dynamax Pokémon. This article preserves that preview's context rather than treating every early prediction as current news.

The source also covered PokémonXP and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships celebration, plus a Japanese airport Bulbasaur Location Background event. Those are separate activities: the Worlds event has ended, while the airport announcement lists a longer Japan-based window.

Twilight Trails at a Glance

Twilight Trails runs September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to December 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The preview's dusk and Halloween imagery set the theme, but was not itself a complete release schedule.

Maschiff and Mabosstiff Debut

Paldea's Dark-type Maschiff and its Evolution, Mabosstiff, joined Pokémon GO. Collecting enough Candy for evolution was a useful goal alongside a first Pokédex entry.

Encounter routes depended on the specific release event. Mega Squads subsequently identified Eggs, Field Research, and the GO Pass for Maschiff; a season preview should not be read as a promise of ordinary wild availability.

Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor

The season preview announced both Mega Evolutions. Their individual event notices determined raid hours, Energy acquisition, and exact participation conditions; the preview alone did not establish those details.

Useful raid preparation checks included:

  • Your stock of Raid Passes and Remote Raid Passes

  • Counters appropriate to each boss's weaknesses

  • The individual and Candy you intended to develop

  • Weather, available group size, and realistic difficulty

New Dynamax Pokémon

Rhyhorn, Sneasel, and Sizzlipede were among the announced Dynamax arrivals, alongside a Max Battle Day featuring Dynamax Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Check the specific event's regional assignments and remote-entry rules rather than importing ordinary raid rules into Max Battles.

Was Zorua Community Day Confirmed by the Teaser?

At the time of the preview, Zorua's teaser appearance prompted speculation. A teaser or datamine alone did not confirm a Community Day.

That uncertainty is now historical: the later official announcement confirmed Zorua Community Day for October 10, 2026, and the event has ended. The preview's distinction between speculation and confirmation remains useful, but it is not the current status of that announcement.

PokémonXP Event Special Moves: Historical List

During the ended PokémonXP and 2026 Worlds celebration, selected catches or Evolutions could receive special moves. The list below records that opportunity; evolving today does not automatically reproduce it.

Moves to Check Before Evolving During the Event

  • Alolan Sandslash: Shadow Claw

  • Primeape and Annihilape: Rage Fist

  • Lickitung and Lickilicky: Body Slam

  • Feraligatr, Greninja, and Inteleon: Hydro Cannon

  • Quagsire: Aqua Tail

  • Gardevoir and Gallade: Synchronoise

  • Walrein: Powder Snow and Icicle Spear

  • Metagross: Meteor Mash

  • Togekiss: Aura Sphere

  • Hydreigon: Brutal Swing

  • Decidueye: Frenzy Plant

  • Incineroar: Blast Burn

  • Corviknight: Air Cutter

During a special-move window, verify your location and event eligibility before evolving. Unreliable GPS can interfere with recognizing the applicable event conditions.

A Shadow Pokémon retaining Frustration may not receive the desired special Charged Attack through evolution. Check Frustration removal and move-slot requirements first; an event evolution does not simply remove it.

PokémonXP Pikachu Field Research

Event Field Research offered PokémonXP 2026 Pikachu encounters. The source's recorded task examples included walking 5 km or spinning 26 PokéStops. These are historical examples, not currently obtainable tasks or a guaranteed Shiny route.

Japan Airport Bulbasaur Location Background Event

The Green Pokémon Jet collaboration added Bulbasaur with a themed Location Background at participating Japanese airports. For a North American traveler, this is a Japan destination activity, not a local airport promotion at home.

Event Window and Participation

The announced window is September 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. through August 31, 2027, at 8:00 p.m. Japan time (JST). After the opening day, raids follow the regular raid schedule; the overall window does not mean all-night raids.

Special airport Gyms host Bulbasaur raids. The announcement says caught Bulbasaur have the Green Pokémon Jet Location Background, with a chance of a Shiny. Each Trainer can participate once per day at each Gym.

Timed Research Expiry

Visiting an eligible airport grants Timed Research. You can receive the Phase 2 research only once across its participating airports, and it expires three days after receipt.

Include the tasks and reward claims in your travel plan. Finishing tasks alone is not enough if you let the research expire before claiming its rewards.

Phase 2 Participating Airports

  • Kochi Airport

  • Matsuyama Airport

  • Takamatsu Airport

  • Tokushima Airport

  • Fukuoka Airport

  • Saga Airport

  • Miyazaki Airport

  • Kumamoto Airport

  • Kagoshima Airport

  • Nagasaki Airport

  • Oita Airport

  • Ishigaki Airport

  • Miyako Airport

  • Naha Airport

Receiving Phase 1 research did not prevent receiving Phase 2 once. The official announcement says Phase 3 will use different airports and permit another research claim, with the locations to be announced separately. Do not assume every phase shares the same airport list.

A Season and Travel Preparation Checklist

Useful Checks from the Original Preview

  1. Tag pre-evolutions intended for a confirmed special-move window.

  2. Check evolution Candy and any planned Stardust costs.

  3. Identify suitable counters for Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor.

  4. Budget Max Particles for the Dynamax additions you intend to pursue.

  5. If traveling to Japan, check eligible airports and whether your actual itinerary permits participation.

Regional and version notes

English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global local-time schedules follow your play location, including North America. Korea-only schedules remain KST and Japanese airport schedules remain JST. Ended event windows do not provide new claim opportunities. Team choices and tier comparisons are editorial, not guaranteed catches, wins, or a continuously updated ranking. The early Zorua uncertainty is followed by its later official confirmation and ended October 10 date. PokémonXP/Worlds special moves are historical. Japan’s airport research is once per phase across eligible airports, expires three days after receipt, and needs an actual visit. No North American airport participation or remote-entry guarantee is inferred. The original 5 km/26 PokéStop task examples are attributed source details, not a newly verified task distribution. Some illustrations are retained from the Korean edition and may include Korean labels. Use the English article text for instructions.
