Mega Squads 2026 Schedule: September 11 Rotation and Free GO Pass Rewards

URITRIP·September 8, 2026

Pokémon GO's Mega Squads event rewarded planning around the September 11, 10:00 a.m. rotation. The first half favored Shiny Pidgey checks; the second featured increased Shiny Carvanha chances and Maschiff in Eggs and Field Research. The September 2026 event is now over.

A free GO Pass accompanied the event, but the earning window and reward-claim deadline were different. This guide records those deadlines and offers a short-session plan using local time at your North American play location, rather than converting Korea's clock.

Mega Squads Dates and Reward Deadlines

Mega Squads ran from September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to September 14 at 8:00 p.m.. The official schedule used local time: North American Trainers followed those same clock hours in their own play location.

Milestone Local date and time What it meant
Event began September 8, 10:00 a.m. Free GO Pass granted automatically
First-to-second-half rotation September 11, 10:00 a.m. Check the updated targets, Eggs, and research
Event and pass progression ended September 14, 8:00 p.m. Last chance to earn GO Points and ranks
Unlocked pass rewards expired September 16, 8:00 p.m. Final claim deadline

The September 16 claim deadline did not extend the pass progression window. GO Point earning and rank progression ended at 8:00 p.m. on September 14. After that, only previously unlocked rewards remained available to claim until the stated deadline.

Claiming rewards after each session was simpler than leaving everything to the end. With limited playtime, the last event session was the time to check all unclaimed items.

How the Two Halves Differed

Rather than pursuing everything at once, divide your available playtime around the Pokémon you want.

Goal Best event window Preparation
Shiny Pidgey September 8, 10:00 a.m.–September 11, 10:00 a.m. Reserve time for first-half encounters
Shiny Carvanha September 11, 10:00 a.m.–September 14, 8:00 p.m. Reserve time for second-half encounters
Maschiff Second-half Eggs and Field Research; check the GO Pass too Compare the actual encounter conditions
Free GO Pass rewards Throughout the progression window Complete manageable tasks on the days you can play

The announcement specified increased Shiny Pidgey chances in the first half and increased Shiny Carvanha chances in the second. Maschiff appeared in second-half 5 km Eggs and Field Research, with the GO Pass providing another route.

Shiny Pidgey: Prioritize the First Half

If Pidgey was your target, you needed to reserve time before the rotation. Waiting for a weekend marathon could miss its boosted window entirely.

An increased chance was not a guaranteed Shiny. Plan around the time you can spend checking encounters, rather than assuming a fixed number of catches will guarantee one.

Maschiff: Check Second-Half Routes and the Pass

For Maschiff, compare second-half Eggs with nearby Field Research and the pass rewards instead of committing immediately to hatching alone.

An announcement that Maschiff appeared in the GO Pass did not, by itself, identify a guaranteed free-track rank. Checking the in-game free and Deluxe tracks and their exact reward conditions was still part of planning.

Free GO Pass Bonuses and Progression

For a free-to-play approach, first check your pass rank, tasks, and unlocked bonuses.

Requirement Main bonus Condition to remember
Rank 1 Chance of Mega Energy from selected catches Not guaranteed on every catch
Rank 15 2× Stardust from hatching Eggs Requires unlocking the rank
Deluxe Rank 15 Half Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators during the event Separate from the free-track benefits

The eligible Mega Energy catches were Weedle, Pidgey, Houndour, Carvanha, and their Evolutions. Half Hatch Distance required Deluxe and should not be included in a free-pass plan.

A straightforward progression loop was:

  1. Check your current rank and available tasks.
  2. Start with tasks that fit your normal route.
  3. Prioritize activities that also advance your encounter goals.
  4. Claim unlocked rewards before ending the session.

A Hatch Stardust bonus was not a reason by itself to buy more Incubators. Decide whether you want Pokédex entries or Stardust before choosing how to spend items.

Preparing 5 km Eggs: Check the Hatch Pool

When preparing for the second half, distinguish Eggs already in storage from newly obtained Eggs. An old Egg did not switch to the second-half pool simply because you hatched it after the rotation.

Open the Egg's detail screen and inspect its possible hatches before choosing an Incubator. Checking that your target is actually listed can prevent wasted items.

If you planned to focus on the second half, these checks mattered more than using every Incubator early:

  • Possible hatches in stored Eggs
  • Space to receive new Eggs
  • Available Incubators
  • Realistic walking time and distance

More Incubators do not solve limited walking time. Set a hatch goal that fits your usual activity, and use the remaining session to check Field Research.

Priorities for Limited Playtime

For a short session, try pass tasks → target encounters → reward claims. One manageable goal for the day is easier to maintain than trying to clear every activity daily.

For example, with three longer sessions and both Pidgey and Maschiff as targets, one first-half session and two second-half sessions could work.

Session Suggested focus
First-half session Open the free pass, check Pidgey, and complete suitable tasks
First second-half session Inspect the changed Egg and Field Research pools
Final event session Finish feasible pass tasks and check unclaimed rewards

This was an example of allocating time, not a guarantee of catches or pass completion. Adjust it to your actual progress.

After the September 11 rotation, check the lists before repeating the same routine. A changed target may call for a different route or item budget.

Before the Event Ended

The final session called for both encounter checks and a review of pass progress and reward claims.

  • Check whether you reached your target rank.
  • Review completed tasks that still need to be collected.
  • Claim unlocked pass rewards.
  • Check Item Bag and Pokémon Storage space.
  • Favorite Pokémon you intend to keep.

Mark keepers before a bulk cleanup. It helps avoid transferring a new species or useful individual by mistake.

Mega Squads was easiest to plan around first-half Pidgey, second-half Carvanha and Maschiff routes, and the free GO Pass throughout. The key checkpoints were the September 11, 10:00 a.m. rotation and the September 14 progression cutoff. Both the event and its subsequent reward-claim window have ended.

Regional and version notes

English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global local-time schedules follow your play location, including North America. Korea-only schedules remain KST and Japanese airport schedules remain JST. Ended event windows do not provide new claim opportunities. Team choices and tier comparisons are editorial, not guaranteed catches, wins, or a continuously updated ranking. GO Point earning ended September 14 at 8 p.m.; unlocked pass rewards expired September 16 at 8 p.m., both local. Stored Eggs did not change hatch pools at the mid-event rotation. Some illustrations are retained from the Korean edition and may include Korean labels. Use the English article text for instructions.
