August 2026 Weekly Recap: Hatch Day, LEGO Stores, and Korea’s Jamsil Magikarp Event

URITRIP·August 4, 2026

The source's August 3–9, 2026 Pokémon GO calendar combined Summer Marathon, Fire and Ice Hatch Day, and a Lake Guardian Raid Hour. It also covered the LEGO Store collaboration and the later Jamsil Magikarp event in Seoul. These summer event windows have ended.

Choose a goal—Shinies, Stardust, or a battle upgrade—rather than trying to attend everything. For North American readers, the regional raid boss and the LEGO/Jamsil participation countries need particular attention.

The Source's August 3–9 Calendar

Date in 2026 Listed activity
Monday, August 3 Dynamax Magmar Max Monday
Tuesday, August 4 Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers and August GO Pass began
Wednesday, August 5 Regional Lake Guardian raid rotation; Mega Blaziken; Lake Guardian Raid Hour
Thursday, August 6 Delibird Spotlight Hour
Friday, August 7 Friendship Friday
Saturday, August 8 Fire and Ice Hatch Day
Sunday, August 9 Scenic Sunday

Shiny Snom debuted during Summer Marathon. An Egg-focused plan could also include the August 8 Hatch Day, while keeping their pools and non-stacking bonuses separate.

The source's Stardust plan highlighted the August 6 Delibird Spotlight Hour. This is an ended calendar entry, not a weekly bonus still available today.

Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers

The event ran August 4, 10:00 a.m.–August 10, 8:00 p.m. local time, including those hours at North American play locations.

Shiny Snom made its debut. Its announced routes were GO Pass tasks and Eggs rather than ordinary wild spawns.

How Snom Was Available

The event announcement identified:

  • GO Pass task encounters
  • Hatches from the event's 5 km Eggs

A hatch plan needed free Egg slots before collecting suitable event Eggs. Check each Egg's actual hatch list rather than assuming an older Egg changed pools when the event began.

Free-to-play Trainers could use the infinite Incubator and already-earned Incubators instead of buying one for every Egg. A hatch target was not a guaranteed result.

Alternating Wild Encounters

The wild examples included Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, Growlithe, Swinub, and Snorunt.

Four other features alternated by date:

  • August 4, 6, 8, and 10: Ponyta and Snover
  • August 5, 7, 9, and 10: Slugma and Vanillite

The even/odd-date pattern was a useful reminder, with August 10 explicitly featuring both groups. Follow the date list rather than applying the pattern blindly.

Those four species also had increased Shiny chances during the event. The appropriate date depended on which one you wanted.

Free Timed Research

The source recorded rewards including:

  • 16,800 XP
  • Pikachu wearing a marathon visor
  • Other event rewards

This Timed Research expired August 10 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Finishing tasks without claiming rewards before the deadline was not enough.

Fire and Ice Hatch Day

Hatch Day ran August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Smoochum and Magby hatched more frequently from the relevant 2 km Eggs, with increased Shiny hatch chances.

Larvesta could also hatch from the relevant 5 km Eggs, with a possible Shiny. That did not make it a guaranteed hatch.

Hatch Day Bonuses

  • Half Egg Hatch Distance under the event conditions
  • 2× Candy from hatching Eggs
  • An increased chance of 2 km Eggs from PokéStops
  • Increased Shiny Smoochum and Magby hatch chances
  • Free event Timed Research
  • An Incubator and XP from that research

Clear Egg space before collecting the event pool. Full Egg storage can prevent you from receiving the Eggs you intended to pursue.

Collect appropriate new Eggs during the event and check their listed pools. Apply the current distance bonus when starting incubation rather than expecting it to alter every stored Egg automatically.

The official notice says the starred Hatch Distance and hatch-Candy bonuses do not stack with other events or GO Pass bonuses. Summer Marathon did not turn successive halves into an extra multiplicative distance reduction.

Hatch Day's free Timed Research required both completion and claiming before 5:00 p.m. local time on August 8.

Regional Lake Guardian Raid Hour

The original Korean calendar listed Uxie in Asia-Pacific raids from August 5. That regional entry must not be copied directly into a North American local raid plan.

Its listed Raid Hour was 6:00–7:00 p.m. local time. The intended goal was a missing Pokédex entry or Shiny, not a guaranteed offensive upgrade.

The official regional division assigns Uxie to Asia-Pacific, Mesprit to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, and Azelf to the Americas and Greenland. North American Trainers needed their corresponding local boss or an eligible invitation to another region's raid.

For the source's battle-building priorities, repeated Uxie attempts were optional. Collection goals and a pass budget could justify a different decision.

Mega Blaziken

The source listed Mega Blaziken replacing Mega Aggron on August 5. This is historical schedule information rather than today's Mega rotation.

With suitable moves, Mega Blaziken can cover Fire and Fighting roles. A first unlock or a real gap in those teams was a clearer Energy goal than unlimited repeat raids.

For a roster already finished with Lake Guardian collection, the source proposed Mega Energy as a more direct battle upgrade.

Mega Blaziken is weak to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic attacks. The source suggested candidates such as Primal Kyogre, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, or Garchomp, using the appropriate attacks and group support.

Delibird Spotlight Hour

The source listed Delibird on August 6, 6:00–7:00 p.m. local time.

It recorded increased Delibird encounters and 2× catch Stardust during that hour. Those were historical conditions, not a current every-Thursday guarantee.

Delibird has a higher base catch-Stardust reward than many species. A matching event multiplier and Star Piece could make that hour useful for farming.

The suggested preparation was:

  • Replenish balls before the start.
  • Clear Pokémon Storage.
  • Prepare a Star Piece if the planned activity justifies it.
  • Use a catching method you are comfortable with.
  • Check the actual in-game weather boost.

A busy catch hour is easier when you tag or sort afterward rather than stopping to appraise every individual immediately.

Friendship Friday

The source recorded these Friday bonuses for August 7:

  • More available Special Trades
  • Reduced trade Stardust costs
  • An increased Lucky chance
  • Additional trade Candy XL for eligible Trainers level 31 and above

Such a confirmed bonus window could fit planned Legendary or Shiny trades with a nearby friend.

An increased Lucky chance did not make every old Pokémon trade guaranteed. Separate any specific guaranteed-Lucky rules from a general age or event bonus, and agree on the trade before confirming.

LEGO Stores: What Applied in North America?

The announced LEGO collaboration ran August 3–September 30, 2026. That period has ended.

Participating stores offered activities such as:

  • Pikachu raids with a possible Special Background
  • A LEGO-themed Stamp Rally
  • A LEGO Jacket avatar item
  • Event-themed stickers
  • LEGO Pokémon SMART Play experiences where offered

The themed Pikachu was available through announced raid opportunities and Stamp Rally rewards, with different background conditions. A raid background chance was not a guarantee on every catch.

The official participating countries were the United States, United Kingdom, Poland, France, Germany, and Australia. US participation did not mean every store across North America, and Canada was not in that announced list.

South Korean LEGO Stores were not in the list either. A nearby store's existence alone did not establish eligibility for the same Pikachu or research.

A previously caught background Pikachu could be traded subject to ordinary eligibility and proximity rules. Having a friend abroad did not allow a long-distance trade from home.

Jamsil Magikarp: South Korea Only

The Jamsil Magikarp event began August 16 in Seoul, South Korea; it was separate from the August 3–9 global calendar.

Its announced area was around Lotte World Tower and Mall in Jamsil. The window was August 16, 10:00 a.m.–August 31, 8:00 p.m. KST. The source highlighted the Arena Plaza surroundings within that destination context.

Magikarp appeared in the wild, with a chance of Gyarados and possible Shinies. This did not create the same spawns at a North American mall.

Jamsil's Short Magikarp Outbreaks

During the local event, four three-minute bursts were announced in the noon-to-1:59 p.m. KST period each day:

  • 12:00–12:03 p.m. KST
  • 12:30–12:33 p.m. KST
  • 1:00–1:03 p.m. KST
  • 1:30–1:33 p.m. KST

Each burst lasted three minutes, not the whole half hour. Preparing balls and storage before noon was the source's practical advice for an in-person visit.

Between bursts, nearby stop spins and available Timed Research could fill the gap.

Jamsil Event Bonuses

  • Increased chances of XXS and XXL wild Magikarp
  • One additional Special Trade
  • Three-hour Lure Module duration
  • Event-themed map confetti
  • Two free local Timed Research lines
  • Event stickers

Size collectors or Trainers planning an appropriate Showcase could keep useful catches. An XXS or XXL label alone did not guarantee a winning entry in every contest.

Jamsil Timed Research Rewards

The event area offered two separate free research lines.

The Magikarp-outbreak research included:

  • 4,000 XP
  • 5,000 Stardust
  • A Magikarp encounter

The road-to-Gyarados research included:

  • 400 Magikarp Candy
  • 10,000 Stardust
  • A Magikarp encounter

Together, the listed research rewards totaled 15,000 Stardust and 400 Magikarp Candy, alongside the other rewards.

Four hundred Candy is the ordinary evolution requirement for one Gyarados, making that a useful first-entry goal for an eligible visitor.

The research had to be obtained in the event area. Completion and claiming remained available only until September 20, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. KST. Both the local event and that later claim deadline are now over.

Regional and version notes

English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global schedules marked local time use the clock at your play location, including North America. Korean destination activities retain KST. Ended event and reward windows do not reopen through this guide. Recommendations and tier comparisons are the original author’s strategic assessment, not an independently measured current leaderboard or guaranteed outcome. The August 3–9 daily calendar is preserved as the source’s historical record. Uxie is the Asia-Pacific regional entry; the official regional assignment example is not independent verification of every August rotation. LEGO participation included announced US stores, not all North America. Jamsil required a Korean location visit and its later September 20 KST research deadline has also passed. The 16,800 XP task total remains a source-recorded detail. Some illustrations are retained from the Korean edition and may include Korean labels. Use the English article text for instructions.
