Pokémon GO's August 2026 calendar featured Gigantamax battles, hatching, Community Day, Water Festival, and Super Mega Raids. The event and claim windows in this article have ended; the original strategy was to choose activities around needed Pokémon and resources rather than attend everything.

Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day

Gigantamax Rillaboom featured in six-star Max Battles August 1, 2:00–5:00 p.m. local time, with a possible Shiny. North American Trainers followed their own local clock for that event window.
The announced features included:
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- 8× Max Particles from Power Spots during the relevant event window
- 2× exploration Particles during the separate midnight–5:00 p.m. window
- Up to three Special Trades for the day
- Gigantamax Battles at Power Spots as announced
Grass-type Rillaboom is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug attacks. Prepare eligible individuals, appropriate Max Moves, and a coordinated group; species typing alone does not qualify an ordinary attacker for a Max Battle.
Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers
August 4, 10:00 a.m.–August 10, 8:00 p.m. local time featured Fire and Ice Pokémon. Shiny Snom debuted, with increased Shiny chances also announced for Ponyta, Slugma, Snover, and Vanillite.
The 5 km Egg pool included Sneasel, Darumaka, Galarian Darumaka, Sizzlipede, and Snom. Pass milestones unlocked PokéStop XP and Hatch Distance benefits; receiving the pass did not activate every milestone immediately.
Fire and Ice Hatch Day

August 8, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. local time featured more Smoochum and Magby hatches from the relevant 2 km Eggs, with increased Shiny chances. Larvesta could also hatch from relevant 5 km Eggs without being guaranteed.
The announced bonuses included:
- 2× hatch Candy
- Half Hatch Distance under the stated conditions
- A higher chance of receiving 2 km Eggs from PokéStops
- Free Timed Research awarding an Incubator and XP
Clear Egg space before collecting the intended pool. The Hatch Day notice specifically says its starred hatch bonuses do not stack with event or GO Pass bonuses; do not multiply successive reductions beyond the announced rule.
Nickit Community Day
Nickit featured August 16, 2:00–5:00 p.m. local time. Eligible Evolutions into Thievul could receive Icy Wind until 9:00 p.m. that evening, four hours after the main event ended.
Bonuses included:
- 3× catch Stardust
- 2× catch Candy
- 2× chance of catch Candy XL for eligible Trainers level 31 and above
- One additional Special Trade under the announced window
- Half trade Stardust under the announced window
Icy Wind lowers the opponent's Attack in Trainer Battles. The source suggested checking Great or Ultra League candidates, but that is not a verified current top-tier ranking or a reason to ignore evolved CP.
Ultra Unlock: Water Festival
August 18–24 introduced Arrokuda and its Evolution, Barraskewda, through the announced research, pass, and Rainy Lure routes. Cramorant debuted through Eggs, the GO Pass, and eligible GO Battle League rewards; it was not simply a guaranteed ordinary wild catch.
The catch bonuses increased through three local-time blocks:
- August 18, 10:00 a.m.–August 20, 10:00 a.m.: 2× XP and 3× Stardust
- August 20, 10:00 a.m.–August 22, 10:00 a.m.: 3× XP and 4× Stardust
- August 22, 10:00 a.m.–August 24, 8:00 p.m.: 4× XP and 5× Stardust
The final block had the highest stated catch multipliers. A Lucky Egg or Star Piece was useful only if it fit actual planned play, not merely because the calendar displayed a larger number.
Starmie Super Mega Raid Day
Mega Starmie debuted August 22, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. local time. Shiny Starmie was a possible catch, not a guarantee.
The announcement included:
- An extra 5,000 XP from all raids
- Increased Rare Candy XL chance from Raid Battles
- Up to six free Raid Passes from Gym Photo Discs
- Increased Shiny Starmie chance from Super Mega Raids
- Free Timed Research awarding a Premium Battle Pass and Scizor
Starmie's Water/Psychic typing is weak to Electric, Grass, Bug, Ghost, and Dark attacks. Super Mega shields and group preparation still matter alongside the matchup.
August GO Pass Rewards

The pass offered Latias, Stardust, XP, Max Particles, and other rewards through progression. Milestones unlocked the following benefits:
- One additional Candy from trades
- One guaranteed trade Candy XL for eligible Trainers level 31 and above
- Increased Gift opening, collection, and carrying allowances
- Double Daily Adventure Incense duration
- Increased Egg hatch XP and Stardust
Deluxe's final reward was a Lucky Trinket. Its use deadline was September 13, 11:59 p.m. local time, distinct from point earning ending September 8 at 10:00 a.m. and reward claims ending September 10 at 10:00 a.m. The item did not enable long-distance trades.
The Original August Priority Plan
The source suggested Hatch Day for an Egg-focused goal and Water Festival's final block for planned Stardust or XP catches. Non-stacking rules and actual Egg pools limited the benefit of buying more Incubators.
It favored the Starmie debut for a missing Mega unlock and appropriate trade candidates for the pass's Candy benefits. Your roster could change that order.
Collectors could focus on Rillaboom, Snom, Nickit, or Starmie, while resource-focused Trainers could prefer Water Festival's later bonuses. All of those August windows are historical; use the current calendar for a new session.
Regional and version notes
English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Global schedules marked local time follow your play location, including North America. Ended event, ticket, and reward windows are historical. Counter choices, upgrade order, and efficiency suggestions are editorial guidance, not guaranteed wins, catches, or a current measured performance ranking. August event dates, hatch non-stacking, Water Festival bonus blocks, and August pass milestone conditions are separated. The Lucky Trinket activation deadline did not extend pass progression or claim deadlines, and it did not permit long-distance trades.
