KMS test preview · About these guides
KMS September 2026 balance preview: the main changes across the Korean class roster
Korean MapleStory previewed a broad class adjustment in September 2026.
Rather than only increasing or decreasing Final Damage, the proposal modernizes older skills, movement, party effects, and stationary attacks. It changes how several classes play as well as their listed numbers.
Many party Attack Power, Magic ATT, and Final Damage effects are adjusted. The source expects individual output to become more prominent, but that does not establish that all party synergies disappear.
This article records the second-week-of-September Korean test overview. It is not a GMS roster-wide patch summary; non-KMS classes are outside its scope. Later live notes take priority for current play.
The main theme: updating older skill structures
Do not begin and end with a percentage increase to one skill.
Look at the wider direction.
For example, bind resistance changes from 90 to 81 seconds in the Korean proposal.
Toggle states are also intended to persist after reconnecting.
Several class party effects involving Attack Power, Magic ATT, or enemy defense are removed or converted into personal effects.
The recurring themes are:
-
Reducing movement inconsistencies between classes
-
Lowering dependence on certain party buffs
-
Cleaning up older skill structures and delays
-
Making placed attacks more practical against bosses
-
Rebalancing contributions from fifth- and sixth-job skills
-
Updating V Matrix and HEXA node structures
Alongside any tier discussion, ask whether the class is easier to execute in a real boss fight. That is a separate question from its dummy output.
Explorer warriors
Hero
Smoother movement and removal of a party Attack Power effect emphasize the class's own damage output.
Paladin
Holy Force and movement are reorganized alongside changes to some party effects, shifting emphasis toward personal combat performance with a revised support package.
Dark Knight
Damage is redistributed across Evil Eye and key attacks, requiring a fresh look at burst and sustained-damage timing.
Explorer mages
Arch Mage (Fire, Poison)
The Final Damage structure tied to damage-over-time upkeep is revised, aiming to retain sustained damage while simplifying conditions.
Arch Mage (Ice, Lightning)
Teleport Mastery removal and a new frost-related passive restructure the kit around freeze effects and Ice Aura. Newer Korean labels need matching to the live regional client.
Bishop
Some effects that directly raise party members' skill levels or offensive stats change, aiming to reduce dependence on a specific support pick while improving personal performance.
Explorer bowmen
Bowmaster
Placed and sustained attacks are revised to lose less damage when bosses move.
Marksman
Snipe skills and movement become more convenient, helping it use its ranged single-target strengths more comfortably.
Pathfinder
One of the clearer structural changes is simplification of its resource and linking systems, including the Korean Relic Gauge removal.
Explorer thieves
Night Lord
It keeps its burst identity while skill contributions and targeting change to reduce lost damage during actual burst windows.
Shadower
Trickblade, other attacks, and HEXA effects are adjusted, revisiting the balance between Assassinate-based sustained damage and concentrated hits.
Dual Blade
Short-cooldown attacks and movement are refined to support continued damage between boss mechanics.
Explorer pirates
Buccaneer
Inputs combining movement and attacks become smoother, aiming to make its close-range sustained style less restrictive.
Corsair
Summons and placed attacks receive practical changes to reduce damage lost against moving bosses.
Cannoneer
Movement-related nodes, including Cannon Jump interactions, are reorganized and some skills simplified for more comfortable execution.
Cygnus Knights and Mihile
Mihile
Royal Guard, Offensive Defense, and attack contributions change substantially, emphasizing turning successful defense into offense.
Dawn Warrior
Its solar/lunar core remains, while movement and V Matrix entries are cleaned up for a simpler combat flow.
Blaze Wizard
Older placed-skill and movement structures are revised to lose fewer attacks when the boss moves.
Wind Archer
Sustained attacks and movement are adjusted, making reliable uninterrupted uptime a key comparison.
Night Walker
Bat and main-attack contributions are reorganized with greater emphasis on direct output rather than some earlier conditions.
Thunder Breaker
Linking inputs and movement restrictions are eased to retain the combo rhythm with less input friction.
Hero classes
Aran
Some Beyond Blade attacks increase while other newer attacks change, redistributing damage that had been concentrated in particular skills.
Evan
Some Return skills are removed and Circle of Mana changes substantially, revising the Mir combination flow rather than only its percentages.
Mercedes
Main attacks including Ishtar's Ring gain baseline damage while conditional effects are reduced to narrow performance differences caused by link conditions.
Phantom
Tempest and movement skills are refined to reduce practical losses from channels and animation recovery. This overview is the September snapshot; the later October Tempest proposal is separate.
Luminous
Light/Dark skills and movement are revised to smooth the transition into and out of Equilibrium.
Shade
Main attacks and spirit skills have their damage contributions adjusted to revisit burst and sustained output.
Resistance and Demon classes
Blaster
It remains an execution-heavy class, with movement and linking friction reduced to make some interactions less restrictive. That does not make it a low-input class.
Battle Mage
Party-effect adjustments are central to its changes, emphasizing its active combat role alongside the revised support effects.
Wild Hunter
Jaguar and placed attacks become more practical against moving bosses.
Mechanic
Summons and placed attacks are revised to reduce the gap between stationary and moving targets.
Xenon
Output tuning and structural changes make it one of the Korean proposal's notable classes to reassess with actual tests.
Demon Slayer
Shared Demon effects and main attacks change with a focus on reliable sustained boss damage. Read the final values before treating that editorial interpretation as a class-wide buff.
Demon Avenger
Its HP-based identity remains while newer and older attack contributions are adjusted to redistribute damage across the kit.
Nova classes
Kaiser
Tempest Blades and other main sword skills are reorganized to connect transformed and untransformed combat more naturally. The source calls the flying-sword entry Will of Sword in Korean terminology.
Kain
The Possess/Execute core stays while individual attack contributions change, prompting a review of the complete burst sequence and its reliability.
Cadena
Its demanding combo style remains, with some animation recovery and usability improvements to reduce unwanted breaks in real combinations.
Angelic Buster
Pink Scud has less delay between repeat uses, and Grand Finale's cheering balloons last longer, improving movement and the end of the burst sequence.
Flora classes
Adele
The Korean Glint boost entry and other skill structures change, simplifying some node arrangements around the attacks that remain.
Illium
Glory Wings enhancement coverage expands, increasing the importance of attacks used in flight.
Ark
The normal/Specter form loop remains, with both forms' output and utility adjusted to reassess their practical combat contributions.
Khali
Its mobility and linking style remain while attack contributions are adjusted to refine how it delivers damage through those links.
Anima classes
Hoyoung
Some boost nodes are consolidated and the power of the Four Fiends-related attack changes substantially, aiming to simplify node planning and strengthen the main burst's presence.
Lara
Dragon Veins and spirits remain central, with placed attacks adjusted to maintain damage more reliably against moving bosses.
Other classes in the Korean overview
Kinesis
Reduced delay between Psychic Rush uses and improved links aim to make movement and execution feel less heavy.
Zero
Alpha/Beta tagging remains central, with movement and combination usability revised to reduce unwanted interruptions in the tag loop.
Ren
Serene Breeze gains more flexible linking, while the fourth-job Korean passive's Final Damage changes from 20% to 17%, combining more mobility with adjustments to baseline output.
Lethe (KMS reference)
Oblique Teleport can be separated onto its own key, providing an early movement-input refinement for the Korean class. This does not announce GMS availability.
Party-effect changes deserve a separate review
The preview alone is not enough to classify every class as a winner or loser.
One important structural theme is turning some party effects into personal effects. The actual impact depends on which buffs a party previously used.
The party Attack Power effect of Hero's Rage/Spirit Blade entry is removed, as is the class-group party Damage effect on the Explorers' Epic Adventure buff.
Ice/Lightning's Meditation also loses its party Magic ATT effect under the Korean changes.
That can reduce some differences caused simply by including a particular class, but it does not prove all compositions perform equally.
Alongside party composition, consider how reliably each character delivers its own output. The source presents this as an interpretation of the patch's direction, not a measured final party-DPS result.
Movement changes can matter substantially
Movement is another recurring part of the proposal.
Skills such as Explorer warriors' jumps gain use during other attacks, and several rushes lose attack hits or unnecessary casting animations.
Ren's Serene Breeze can link a forward jump into an upward jump and vice versa.
In complex boss patterns, that flexibility can matter as much as a small numerical increase, depending on the fight.
Recheck V Matrix and HEXA too
The changes extend beyond the skill window.
Some removed attacks lose their boost entries, while other boost nodes are consolidated.
Explorer warrior Rush boosts are examples; Mihile, Evan, Hoyoung, Adele, Ren, and others also have V Matrix changes.
The proposal also changes HEXA entries for classes including Paladin, Bishop, Shadower, Mihile, Evan, Luminous, Xenon, Demon Avenger, and Hoyoung.
After the relevant patch reaches your server, review both V Matrix and HEXA configurations, not only attack tooltips.
Reassess after the final patch
The Korean September overview is best understood as a broad skill-modernization proposal, with class-specific output tuning alongside it.
Party effects, movement, placed attacks, and nodes all change together.
Classes with substantial structural changes, including Evan and Mihile, need hands-on reassessment. Previously high-ranked classes also need current results rather than assumptions from old rankings.
The article preserves the September 10, 2026 KMS Test World context. The final Korean release and October follow-up are linked below. GMS players should use the matching GMS release notes before changing builds.
