KMS Personal Burning Guide: Character Choice, Weekly Flames, and Coin Shop Budget

URITRIP·September 16, 2026

KMS event · About these guides

Korean MapleStory's Personal Burning event combines growth missions, weekly bosses, and special-monster farming to award EXP and sixth-job resources to eligible level-260-plus characters.

When choosing a character, prioritize one you will keep training and bossing on throughout the event. KMS allows one character per verified identity. You cannot cancel the designation, switch it, or designate another character after deleting the first. This describes the Korean event, not GMS account policy.

This guide covers entry, main-versus-alt choice, the original 30 growth stages, weekly Personal Flames, reward allocation, and the coin shop. KMS later extended growth missions to 45 stages; stages 31–45 add EXP without more Personal Coins. The original 30-stage goals and coin budget remain the focus below.

KMS event dates and eligibility

Check both the level requirement and the character-selection restriction first.

Requirement Details
Level At least 260 and below 300
Prerequisite Complete the Sacred Power introduction quest
Korean event window After September 17 maintenance through November 18, 2026, 11:59 p.m. KST
Designation limit One character per verified identity in KMS
Cancel the designation Not permitted
Designate again after deletion Not permitted
Boss missions open September 24, 2026, midnight KST

Zero must also complete Chapter 2. The Korean notice explicitly states that the designation cannot be canceled and deleting the participating character does not allow another character under that identity to rejoin.

Before selecting, decide which character you will actually keep developing through November. Do not make an irreversible choice simply to join immediately.

Choose your main or an alt?

Personal Burning is more than picking any level-260 character to collect a reward.

The original growth stages, Flame farming, and boss missions all favor a character you actively play.

Your situation Choice to consider
You plan to keep leveling and upgrading your main's sixth job Consider the main first
An alt is becoming your new main The alt can be a useful choice
You stopped playing a character soon after level 260 Consider carefully
An alt already trains and bosses regularly Likely to use more of the event
Your intended main is below level 260 Check eligibility after reaching 260

When the main makes sense

If you already train and run weekly bosses on your main, the event fits that existing routine.

Fragments and EXP from the special monsters directly help the designated character, especially if you are developing its level and sixth-job skills together. That makes the rewards straightforward to use.

When an alt makes sense

Choosing an alt is not inherently a loss.

An intended new main or a long-term alt may benefit substantially from the growth support.

A character you will stop playing soon is less likely to use the full growth and weekly-farming rewards.

The useful distinction is which character you will keep playing through November, rather than whether you currently call it a main or an alt.

The original 30 growth stages

Individual mission targets use the character's level and current EXP when designated. Check your own event interface for the resulting targets.

The original 30 stages each award EXP and 1,000 Personal Coins immediately on completion, for up to 30,000 Personal Coins. The later EXP-only extension does not increase that coin total.

Stage 30 is not the same final level for every character.

The source lists these player-observed Test World examples:

Starting point Example stage-30 target
Level 260, 0% Level 283, 23%
Level 270, 5% Level 284, 15%
Level 275, 6.9% Level 285, 0.9%
Level 280, 0% Level 285, 99.818%
Level 285, 71.5% Level 288, 65.61%
Level 290, 6.3% Level 291, 51.851%
Level 294, 0% Level 295, 4.01%

These are player-reported Test World cases, not an official fixed conversion table. Existing EXP can change the goal even at the same level, so prioritize the target shown before designation.

Nor does the table mean the event instantly levels you to that point.

For example, level 260 at 0% → level 283 at 23%means that level 283 at 23% is the final target you must reach to finish stage 30. It is not an automatic level grant.

Level 299 has a special adjustment

Level-299 participants are an exception.

The official Korean notice states that when starting above roughly 68% EXP at level 299, stages that would otherwise require progress beyond level 300 have their target adjusted to reaching level 300.

Those adjusted stages do not award EXP.

Check this condition before designating a near-cap character.

Personal Flames: 24,000 added each week

Korean Personal Burning character selection and growth stages

The special monster, Personal Flame, appears in eligible level-range Arcane Power and Sacred Power fields after you enable the event feature.

At midnight each Thursday in KST, the available defeat allowance gains 24,000 Flames. This is a weekly capacity addition, not an ordinary field-monster kill count.

The stored allowance is capped at 36,000 Flames. Anything above the cap is handled separately.

Allowance before refill Added at refill Allowance afterward
0 24,000 24,000
12,000 24,000 36,000
20,000 16,000 36,000
36,000 0 36,000

A simple planning target is 12,000 or fewer remaining before Thursday's midnight refill. That leaves room for the full weekly addition.

With at most 12,000 remaining, all 24,000 can be added without exceeding capacity.

With 20,000 remaining, only 16,000 fit; the extra 8,000 do not immediately join your free stored allowance.

Recovering overflow costs Maple Points

The Personal Monster Pass records Flames that could not be added because the allowance was full.

The listed recovery rate is 10 Maple Points per Flame. This is a paid recovery route in the Korean event.

Recovering all 8,000 in the example would cost 80,000 Maple Points.

If you do not want to spend points, manage the remaining allowance during the week instead of assuming overflow is a free catch-up reward.

The allowance is not 24,000 ordinary kills

Keep the two counters separate.

The weekly 24,000 refers to Personal Flames you can defeat, not ordinary field monsters. Your normal kill rate is not the same measure.

Enable Flame summons in the field interface. Each defeated Flame grants EXP based on the designated character's level and Personal Reward Points. The live notice also says no bonus EXP effects apply to Flames.

Ordinary monsters killed per hour alone cannot determine the exact time needed to use your Flame allowance.

Try a few sessions and measure how quickly that dedicated allowance falls before setting your weekly training plan.

Choose Sol Erda, Fragments, or EXP

Before summoning, set Personal Flame customization. It determines the reward-point split.

Distribute three customization points among:

  • Sol Erda
  • Sol Erda Fragments
  • Personal EXP

Each defeated Flame grants three Personal Reward Points, allocated according to your settings.

You can put all three into Fragments, or split them—for example, two into Fragments and one into EXP.

Defeating the full weekly 24,000 gives:

24,000 × 3 = 72,000 points

A full weekly allocation yields up to 48 Fragments

Personal Flame allowance and reward-point allocation

If all 72,000 points go to one category, the equivalent reward is:

Focused reward Exchange rate Per 24,000 Flames
Sol Erda Fragments One per 1,500 points 48
Personal EXP Vouchers One per 100 points 720
Faint Sol Erda Energy (KMS reward name) Six per 1,500 points 288

The Korean exchange rates are 1,500 points per Fragment, 100 per Personal EXP Voucher, and 1,500 per six Faint Sol Erda Energy items.

You do not receive all three full quantities simultaneously.

The customization split determines your actual reward mix.

Focus on Fragments if they are the HEXA bottleneck, or allocate more EXP if a level requirement is the immediate goal.

Where the 732-Fragment example comes from

Assume all nine weekly allocations are used and all three customization points stay on Fragments throughout.

At 48 each week, 48 × 9 = 432 Fragments. That is the farming portion of the example.

Buying all 300 coin-shop Fragments then gives 432 + 300 = 732 Fragments. Both parts must actually be earned and claimed.

In other words, 732 is a conditional nine-week total: every weekly Flame allocation used, all points on Fragments, and all 300 shop Fragments purchased. It is not a fixed participation gift. The source's test summary uses nine reward weeks.

Allocating points to EXP or Sol Erda reduces the Fragment total. A late starter must count only the opportunities actually available, including any recoverable overflow under its separate rules.

The coin budget is 30,000

Each of the original 30 growth stages gives 1,000 coins.

That yields 1,000 × 30 = 30,000 coins. Later EXP-only stages do not add coins.

Buying every listed shop item costs more than that budget.

Personal Coin Shop prices

Planning the Korean Personal Coin Shop budget

KMS item Price Limit Full cost
Karma Black Cube 85 100 8,500
Karma White Additional Cube 130 100 13,000
Karma Abyssal Rebirth Flame (descriptive KMS name) 85 100 8,500
Sol Erda 200 10 2,000
Sol Erda Fragments 15 300 4,500
Total 36,500

The listed full-shop cost is 36,500 coins. These are Korean products and prices, not a GMS shop catalog.

You cannot purchase that entire list with 30,000 coins.

At least 6,500 coins' worth of purchases must be left out.

An example prioritizing cubes and Fragments

For a mix of potential and sixth-job growth, consider:

  1. 100 Karma Black Cubes → 8,500 coins
  2. 100 Karma White Additional Cubes → 13,000 coins
  3. 300 Sol Erda Fragments → 4,500 coins

Together, that costs 26,000 coins. It leaves 4,000 before any other purchases.

Buying all ten Sol Erda then uses another 2,000, leaving 2,000.

Using the remainder on the listed rebirth flames gives 85 coins × 23 = 1,955 coins, leaving 45 coins.

This is just one allocation example.

If you have no eligible equipment for the cubes, other materials may be more useful. Choose around your equipment and HEXA needs rather than copying the basket.

Other eligible characters can use the shop

Access is not limited to the designated character.

The final live notice allows level-260-plus characters on a Maple ID with a Personal Burning participant to use it. This corrects the older source's level-200 shop-access statement.

Purchase limits are shared across that Maple ID.

Shop Fragments are untradeable and permanent. Other purchased items expire November 19, 2026 at 2 a.m. KST.

Sol Erda can be used only by a level-260-plus character with sixth-job advancement completed, subject to the holding cap.

Personal Boss Missions start September 24

Boss missions open a week after the main event.

The Korean window is September 24 at midnight through November 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. KST. Those are separate from the shop-item use deadline.

Qualifying weekly boss defeats grant boss-specific EXP.

The source lists Hard Damien, Hard Lotus, Hard Lucid, Seren, Kalos, Kaling, Limbo, and newer Korean bosses including Bellona, Baldrix, and Jupiter. These names identify the Korean roster, not confirmed GMS availability for every encounter.

Practice-mode clears do not award this EXP.

Party missions require at least 5% damage contribution

The event splits party EXP among qualifying members under the listed Korean rules.

It also applies a contribution requirement.

According to the official notice, a member dealing less than 5% of the party's total damage cannot complete the Personal Boss Mission.

Damage dealt by someone who leaves the party during the fight still counts in the total used for this calculation.

Choose a party where you can actually meet the contribution threshold rather than merely enter a high difficulty.

Boss EXP arrives when the reward monster is defeated

The reward timing matters too.

It is not awarded immediately at the end of the final combat phase: the reward monster must be defeated for the EXP to be awarded. Complete that step before treating the reward as received.

Level-300 characters cannot receive Personal Boss Mission EXP.

Personal Burning FAQ

Can I change a mistaken character designation?

No.

It cannot be canceled, and deleting that character does not permit another designation under the same Korean identity.

Does every level-260 character get the same target?

No.

The original stage targets depend on both current level and EXP.

Use shared tables only as references; read the targets displayed on your own designation screen.

If I skip a week, can I use 48,000 Flames next week?

Not automatically.

The stored cap is 36,000, so 24,000 cannot accumulate without limit each week.

Leaving at most 12,000 before the Thursday refill preserves room for the next full 24,000.

Does a higher-level map increase Flame EXP?

The official notice says Flame EXP is based on the designated character's level. It does not present a fixed multiplier of your ordinary map monsters' EXP.

Player-reported Test World comparisons are not an official universal ratio.

Choose an eligible level-range field where you can train reliably instead of assuming an advertised normal-monster multiplier.

Before joining: a checklist

  • Choose a character you will keep playing through November.

  • Confirm level 260-plus and the Sacred Power prerequisite.

  • Read the original stage-30 target before designation.

  • Understand that cancellation and redesignation after deletion are unavailable.

  • Set all three Flame customization points.

  • Plan for 12,000 or fewer Flames remaining before Thursday midnight KST.

  • Allocate to your current Fragment, Sol Erda, or EXP bottleneck.

  • Use the weekly boss missions available from September 24.

  • Meet the 5% party-damage requirement.

  • Set shop priorities within the 30,000-coin budget.

Putting the event plan together

The three central decisions are the character, its original growth targets, and the weekly 24,000-Flame allowance. Keep those visible in the plan.

An irreversible one-character choice favors the character you will actually play most throughout the Korean event.

Manage the Flame cap before Thursday resets and allocate reward points to the current bottleneck—Fragments for skill growth or EXP for a level goal, for example.

With a 30,000-coin budget against a 36,500-coin list, deciding priorities early avoids reaching the end with too few coins for what you needed most.
