KMS-only event: This event is available only in Korean MapleStory. The dates, rewards, and World Leap rules below do not apply to GMS.
Planning a main swap or a World Leap in Korean MapleStory (KMS)? Check your Legion Champion registrations and Momentum Pass history before moving any characters. KMS announced free Legion Champion removal and more flexible Momentum Pass character selection with its October update. The changes can save mesos and, if you qualify, let you choose a different character for growth rewards. These are Korean-server rules; they do not announce a GMS transfer event.
Free removal has a limited window, and changing your pass character has specific requirements. Removing the meso fee does not preserve your Champion rank, and switching characters does not grant a second set of paid rewards. Keep those distinctions in mind when planning your next main.
Before removing a Legion Champion

Legion Champion grants additional stats based on the ranks of your registered Champions. The KMS removal fee is normally 1 billion mesos per character, which makes changing your lineup a substantial decision.
The final KMS notice sets free removal from after October 22 maintenance until November 5, 2026 at 10 a.m. KST. You can clear a registration without the usual fee during that window. Review the lineup if you have changed mains, picked new alts, or plan to use Open Advancement.
Removal resets that character's rank and trial progress
The biggest consideration is the reset that comes with removing a Champion. Unregistering a character resets its Champion rank and trial state. If you register it again, you will need to complete the relevant trials again.
For a high-rank character, repeating those fights can cost more time than the fee is worth. Even if you only dislike the registration order, consider which bosses you would have to clear again before committing.
A registered Champion cannot use Open Advancement. Champion slots you have already unlocked remain unlocked even if removing a character changes the qualifying conditions. Character rank and unlocked slots are separate.
Choose the replacement first
Decide which characters you actually intend to keep playing before removing anyone. Check whether the replacement can clear your target trials and how much of the outgoing character's badge benefit it can replace.
Removing a Champion before the free period begins can still incur the normal fee. Read the fee and reset information in the confirmation window. Free removal is a benefit limited to the specified event window, rather than a permanent removal of the cost.
Momentum Pass character changes depend on activation history

The KMS Momentum Pass PLUS adjustment expands who can select a new participating character. Eligibility depends on whether you activated Premium and Prime rewards before the relevant maintenance.
| Previous paid-reward activation | Can another character on the same Maple ID participate? |
|---|---|
| Both Premium and Prime activated | Eligible for the change |
| Neither reward tier activated | Eligible for the change |
| Premium activated on its own | Not included in this relaxation |
The important record is paid-reward activation history. That is different from claiming free rewards or raising the pass level. The new character must also belong to the same Maple ID.
Changing characters does not reset paid purchases
The change does not let you repurchase a Premium or Prime tier from the previous round to receive duplicate rewards in the next round. Restrictions on previously purchased paid tiers still apply.
If you activated both paid tiers, being allowed to participate on another character does not mean you can claim the paid rewards again there. Check character-selection eligibility and paid-reward eligibility separately; they are different permissions.
If you activated only Premium, first check whether you need to continue on the original character. Compare your remaining goals with rewards you will actually use before buying an extra tier you had not planned to purchase.
Register the character that will use the growth rewards
The stated entry requirement is level 280 or higher. Zero must also satisfy the Chapter 2 story requirement. Permission to switch characters does not waive the level requirement.
KMS limits participation to one character per verified identity. After registering, you cannot change the character or Maple ID again. Decide who will use the farm entry tickets and EXP vouchers before making this selection; this Korean identity-based restriction is not a general GMS account rule.
Register before doing your weekly missions. Monster Park runs, symbol daily quests, and level-range monster kills completed before joining do not count retroactively. Doing your usual dailies first could leave you without credit for the pass.
Plan which character will World Leap first

When preparing a transfer, the order in which you move your characters can matter as much as clicking the transfer button. Your main may need more preparation because of Champion registrations, items, and unclaimed rewards.
If the event accepts applications by Maple ID, you can consider moving a ready alt first and bringing your main over after sorting everything out. This can keep you from rushing your main's Champion lineup. That first alt must still meet the transfer's level and character-creation requirements.
However, moving one alt first does not guarantee that every remaining character can transfer. Check the application unit, additional-character rules, and closing conditions before relying on that order. If the event can close early, watch for closure notices too.
Check departure and destination rules separately
In the announced KMS regular-world leap, Scania and Luna are departure options but cannot be selected as destinations. Other regular worlds, including Croa and Elysium, are subject to the listed destination rules. These names refer to KMS worlds, not a GMS transfer route.
Eos and Helios have a separate route limited to transfers between those two worlds. Do not assume they share the regular-world transfer options. If you are moving with friends or guildmates, check that everyone's origin can reach the same destination.
Also check whether your first origin-and-destination choice locks in later transfers. If an alt goes first, choose the world where you actually want your main to settle.
Empty the relevant storage and claim rewards
Moving a character does not automatically move shared storage or Cash Shop storage. Put transferable items you want to bring into that character's inventory, and check what would be left behind.
It is easy to focus on equipment and miss expiring consumables or unclaimed event rewards. Check each item's transfer restrictions and expiration, then decide what to bring and what to use before leaving.
Before transferring, work through this checklist:
- Choose the final destination and the first character to move.
- Confirm that each moving character meets the event requirements.
- If removing a Champion, confirm the free fee and understand the reset.
- Withdraw the items you can bring from shared and Cash Shop storage.
- Plan for unclaimed rewards and expiring items.
- Check additional-character transfer rules and the closing time.
Treat a main swap, World Leap, and pass-character selection as one plan. Check the Champion trial reset, your pass activation history, and the transfer's inventory restrictions before making irreversible selections.
Regional and version notes
English localization reviewed October 23, 2026. Korean MapleStory (KMS) and Global MapleStory (GMS) have different schedules, class rosters, economies, and feature versions. Korean event times use KST (UTC+9), not North American local time. Use the GMS announcement and your current in-game tooltips for GMS participation and skill values. The October 22 live KMS notice was checked for the free Champion-removal period and Momentum Pass restrictions. Character reselection does not reset prior paid-tier purchase eligibility. Korea’s verified-identity limit is not rewritten as a GMS account-wide rule. KMS Scania/Luna/Eos/Helios routes are not GMS transfer options.
