Can you still clear your current bosses after your Item Burning equipment expires?
As the deadline approaches, it is tempting to open the Auction House immediately. First, check how much of your current setup depends on temporary gear. That tells you what must be replaced before you start shopping for upgrades.
Challenger equipment from the KMS summer 2026 Item Burning PLUS event remains usable until November 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. KST. Separate replacing expiring equipment from increasing your damage ceiling. That makes it easier to decide what to buy first. This is a Korean event deadline, not a GMS equipment expiration date.
This guide uses a high-investment Korean Lethe example—Eternal equipment and a five-second cooldown hat—to explain how to prepare. It does not establish GMS class availability or a required starter build.
When does gear growth end, and when does the equipment expire?

Item Burning PLUS has separate growth and usage periods. For the Korean summer 2026 event, the schedule is:
| Period | End time (KST) | What ends |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment growth | September 16, 2026, 11:59 p.m. | Upgrading the equipment through event missions |
| Equipment usage | November 18, 2026, 11:59 p.m. | Using the supplied Challenger equipment |
The growth event ending does not immediately disable the gear. Moving to a permanent world does not make it permanent either. These dates apply to that specific KMS season's Challenger equipment.
Read the expiration in each equipped item's tooltip. Separate slots you have already replaced with permanent gear from those still using temporary equipment.
Lethe gearing: replacing missing slots or raising the ceiling?
There are two goals: keeping your existing farming and bossing routine after expiration, and gaining enough power for harder or faster clears.
The featured Lethe already has some 21–23-star equipment, and adds several Eternal pieces, a five-second cooldown hat, and level-5 Oz rings. This is a high-investment example. Treating it as the minimum to graduate from Item Burning would inflate a beginner's budget substantially.
If your goal is to keep clearing the same bosses, price the expiring-slot replacements first. Then compare additional cooldown reduction, potential improvements, and ring upgrades with the remaining budget.
| Your goal | Check this first |
|---|---|
| Keep playing the character after expiration | Which slots still use temporary gear and their replacements |
| Maintain your current boss clears | The complete replacement setup and actual fight results |
| Continue Lethe as a long-term character in KMS | Cooldown-hat spending versus upgrades in other slots |
| Push Eternal pieces to high Star Force | Enhancement funds separate from the purchase price |
Does Lethe require a five-second cooldown hat?

When comparing three-second and five-second hats, remember that the number refers to skill cooldown reduction from potential options. The example combines four seconds from main Potential with one second from Bonus Potential for five seconds total. GMS Heroic worlds do not offer the same Bonus Potential and equipment-trading setup, so this recipe is not a Heroic shopping plan.
The number alone does not guarantee the same value for every character. Your existing stats, rotation, target boss, and rings all affect the comparison.
If replacing the temporary gear already stretches your budget, check the other missing slots before concentrating spending on one hat. An excellent hat does not fill an empty equipment slot after expiration.
Is making the hat yourself really cheaper?
A four-second hat may cost less than a finished five-second hat. That does not establish the cost of rolling the extra second. Ranking up Bonus Potential and obtaining the desired lines are separate expenses.
Compare the full costs:
- Making it yourself: Add the base item, tier upgrades, rerolls, and any remaining scroll, bonus-stat, and Star Force work.
- Buying a finished item: Add the purchase price and whatever potential or enhancement work it still needs.
A lucky roll can finish quickly, but one favorable result is not an average crafting cost. Match the other potential lines and enhancement state when comparing hats with equal cooldown reduction.
Eternal gear costs more than its listing price
Adding up item prices alone can understate a full Eternal setup. Main Potential, Bonus Potential, scrolling, bonus stats, and Star Force can all add costs in this Korean trade-enabled example.
After the hat, the example compares top, bottom, shoulder, and other pieces, selecting 30% or 33% INT depending on the listing. That is a price-by-piece approach, not a universal graduation requirement.
If you also start rerolling an existing glove's Bonus Potential, a plan to replace temporary gear can quickly expand into rebuilding the whole character.
Even a successful hat or glove roll can leave too few mesos for essential replacements. Split the budget into replacement purchases, necessary enhancement, and optional performance upgrades. Give each category its own limit.
That also makes it easier to decide where to stop if one item costs more than expected.
Combat Power increased only slightly—what actually changed?
One Combat Power number cannot fully describe a gear change. The source mentions a roughly two-million Combat Power increase, while a later screen after ring upgrades shows a third-party HEXA-converted score of 74,599. Those are different measurements.
Do not treat those numbers as directly interchangeable: they measure different things and were recorded at different points. The final score incorporates multiple equipment and ring changes. It cannot isolate the hat's effect or the Eternal swap alone.
Use the same calculator and input conditions when comparing your own setup, and record each changed slot. Then compare clear times and rotation execution against the same boss.
A converted-stat score alone does not guarantee any particular boss clear.
How far should you invest in special rerolls and Oz rings?
The KMS Prime Additional Cube described here rerolls Legendary Bonus Potential while preserving the first line. It also lets the user choose between the previous and new result. This describes the Korean item, not a promise that an identically named GMS product exists.
Preserving one line does not make the desired result cheap or guaranteed. Decide whether that first line is worth preserving and set a spending limit for the remaining lines.
The example ultimately raises both Ring of Restraint and Continuous Ring to level 5. That end result is not required for every Item Burning character.
Before spending on ring refinement, check whether you have usable replacements for every expiring equipment slot. Optional damage optimization can follow after that foundation is covered.
A practical Item Burning replacement plan
Your permanent gear and remaining budget determine the order. Use this process to build your own plan instead of copying a fixed shopping ranking.
- Identify temporary equipment. Read the tooltips and list every slot that needs replacing.
- Choose the content to maintain. Decide whether the first goal is your current weekly bosses or a harder target.
- Compare total replacement costs. Include the remaining enhancement work in each slot's purchase cost.
- Limit self-crafted upgrades. Set separate limits for ranking up and rerolling options.
- Check the result after replacing gear. Compare the same calculator conditions with actual boss records.
Will prices definitely rise near expiration? No fixed direction follows from the deadline alone. Supply, demand, and enhancement events can all affect trading prices.
Compare listings with the options you need instead of rushing. Base enhancement timing on confirmed event announcements rather than an assumed calendar.
Item Burning and Lethe gearing FAQ
How long can I use the event equipment?
The summer 2026 KMS Item Burning PLUS Challenger equipment expires November 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. KST. Other seasons and regions have their own notices and item tooltips.
Do I need a full Eternal set before it expires?
No universal requirement applies. Your existing permanent gear and target content determine the replacements. Start with the slots that would otherwise become empty.
Does Lethe always need a five-second hat?
This one endgame example does not establish that. Compare the hat with other upgrades using your own gear, boss goal, and regional systems.
Can I wait for Shining Star Force?
You can plan purchase timing separately from enhancement timing. Check a confirmed event announcement and your equipment expiration before postponing essential preparations.
On your next login, open your equipment window before the Auction House. List the slots that need replacements, then write down the mesos you can actually use.
Once those gaps are clear, it becomes easier to prioritize a cooldown hat, Eternal pieces, or rings without losing the ability to keep playing after expiration.
