Tier 4 Combat Power: Checking the Build Behind the Number

What Does Combat Power Tell You?

Item level, Combat Power, actual damage, and group acceptance describe different things. This Korean guide covers 1640–1775, but its targets are historical advice rather than official North American entry requirements.

A Summary Number Has Limits

Gems, engravings, skills, and active effects all matter. Ark Passive and Ark Grid are separate systems; the source’s combined label should not obscure which points or core effects you are changing.

The source claims an all-Relic-core character with Level 8 gems greatly outperforms a mixed-core character with Level 10 gems at the same 5,000 score. Without complete setups or a controlled test, that result is unverified. Compare actual active effects and skill coverage, rather than rarity alone.

Advanced Honing Milestones at 30 and 40

Advanced Honing raises item level and can unlock a milestone increase to a piece’s basic effect. It is distinct from ordinary honing.

The published milestone bonuses are +2% basic effect at 30 and +3% at 40. These are not direct universal final-damage bonuses. Stopping at 29 or 39 can still be reasonable under a budget; evaluate the remaining cost and benefit instead of calling it wasted gold.

The source proposes this order for damage-oriented upgrades. Recalculate from your actual pieces and goals:

  1. Weapon
  2. Gloves
  3. Shoulders
  4. Helmet
  5. Pants
  6. Chestpiece

Weapon Advanced Honing 30 may help a particular character, but it is not a recruitment cheat code. Its cost, prerequisites, and value relative to armor or other upgrades vary.

Karma and Ark Grid Checks Around 1710

If group applications fail, inspect the build and the group’s advertised experience level. The source suggests the following progression checks:

Karma: Enlightenment rank 5/level 17 and Leap rank 6/level 21 are its proposed targets, not an official minimum for every 1710 activity. Rank and level are different measures.
Ark Grid points:
Order cores: the source recommends Relic with 17 active points. Verify the effect unlocked for your build rather than treating the number as universal admission criteria.
Chaos cores: it suggests 13 points as a starting target and 17 as a later goal. Compare the actual thresholds and your available Astrogems.
A registered core alone does not activate all its effects. Check Astrogem activation, Willpower capacity, and the resulting points. These checks can reveal an overlooked benefit without guaranteeing a particular score or party invitation.

Planning Beyond 1740

Higher goals can become expensive, but reaching 1740 does not make cost comparisons irrelevant.

  • Gems: the source prefers all Level 8 with selected Level 9–10 main-skill gems. Those are optional targets, not grounds to discard a useful Level 6 or 7 gem before comparing the replacement’s value.
  • Bracelets and accessories: its 13–15% bracelet estimate and double-high accessory shorthand are not universal requirements. The event-product nickname is unclear; compare the actual item, effects, binding, and build rather than assuming all free gear becomes unusable.
  • Weapon quality: 95–100 is a premium target, not an official requirement for every encounter in this bracket. Quality attempts remain random; set a budget and compare the next improvement with alternatives.
