Does a low-health Frank feel more threatening than you remember? Did Meg always start in her mech? Returning players can find a familiar Brawler surprisingly different because of a rework.
To understand a rework, look beyond damage numbers to attack conditions and how abilities are used. An ammo change, a different dash endpoint, or a new charge condition can alter the decisions the same Brawler demands.
This guide compares eight examples from Penny through Bibi, applied during 2022–2025. It records those changes and their context, not the current competitive ranking.
Rework, Remake, or Visual Remodel?
Here, ‘rework’ describes a change to how a main attack or Super functions. Penny’s broader visual-and-gameplay overhaul is discussed as a remake. These are explanatory distinctions, not official categories with fixed boundaries.
For each Brawler, ask three questions:
- Can they now do something they previously could not?
- Has a prerequisite or waiting condition been reduced?
- Has the tradeoff between attacking and surviving changed?
Eight Reworks at a Glance
Use this table as the overview, then read the individual explanations below.
| Brawler | Main Change Date | Key Change |

| Penny | June 2022 | Visual and kit overhaul; cannon fire effect became baseline |
| Meg | April 2023; June 2024 | Starts in mech; later mech firing changes |
| Frank | June 2024 | Faster attacks as his missing-health percentage rises |
| Lily | June 2024 | Ammo increased from one to two |
| Darryl | August 2024 | Can store two Super uses |
| Bull | June 2025 | Adjustable Super travel distance |
| Doug | June 2025 | Healing-based Super charge and stronger allied targeting |
| Bibi | September 2025 | Home Run bar charges independently of ammo count |
Penny’s Overhaul Was More Than a New Model

In June 2022, Penny received visual and gameplay changes. Her former cannon fire-area Star Power effect became part of the base kit. Her main attack lost range but gained projectile speed, and her base health increased.
Gadget and Star Power changes also expanded her options. Salty Barrel, for example, lets her shoot the placed barrel to spread coins. That changes attack use, not just appearance.
Do not project the initial result directly onto today’s game. Follow-up adjustments on June 30 reduced split-coin damage and increased the cannon’s attack interval.
Meg’s Rework Changed Her Starting State
Meg did not always spawn in her mech. The April 2023 rework made her start matches in it and removed its passive health decay, while reducing mech health and damage.
The old reduced-healing restriction was also removed. Saying the earlier mech could not receive any healing would be inaccurate; the restriction reduced healing.
June 2024 then changed the mech attack’s projectile count, range, and damage. Separate the starting-state rework from the later firing-pattern changes.
Frank and Lily Gained Different Attack Windows

In June 2024, Frank changed so that his attacks become faster as his missing-health percentage increases. Rushing a weakened Frank can therefore expose you to faster retaliation, though low health remains a real survival risk.
At the same time, Lily’s ammo increased from one to two. Having another follow-up attack after reaching a target is significant; it does not mean every real encounter deals exactly double damage.
Both received later nerfs. Frank’s low-health attack-speed scaling was reduced, while Lily lost damage and health. Their initial rework strength and subsequent performance are different snapshots.
Darryl and Bull Gained More Control Over Their Entries
In August 2024, Darryl gained storage for two Super uses. After rolling in, he can choose another movement if he has the charge: spend both chasing, or save one for repositioning.
Bull’s June 2025 rework let him adjust his Super’s travel distance. It also added damage to enemies hit along the charge and a slow at the endpoint. Stomper changed to make the next Super briefly stun enemies on impact.
Both show that mobility is not only about travel distance. Consider what you can do after reaching the chosen position.
Doug and Bibi Gained New Ability-Readiness Conditions
In June 2025, Doug gained Super charge through healing. His hot dog gained strong allied homing, and Fast Food gained an effect fully healing Doug after a successful allied revive.
That connects supporting teammates more directly with preparing his next Super. The value still depends on positioning and the fight.
Bibi’s September 2025 change made the Home Run bar charge regardless of her ammo count. Previously it required full ammo. The new condition lets her attack while preparing another Home Run.
A Rework Does Not Guarantee a Top-Tier Pick
Separate the immediate response from long-term performance. Follow-up balance, map layout, and opposing compositions can all change the value of new options.
Returning players should check how their main Brawlers changed before relying on an old tier list. Darryl’s stored Super uses and Bibi’s bar condition are easy to miss if you play entirely from memory.
FAQ
Is a Rework the Same as a Visual Remodel?
No. A remodel changes appearance. Read main attack, Super, Gadget, and Star Power changes separately to establish whether combat changed too. Penny received both kinds of changes together.
Is a Rework Always a Buff?
No. A mechanic can become more flexible while some numbers decrease. Meg starting in her mech alongside reduced mech health and damage is an example.
What Should Returning Players Check First?
Start with ammo, charge conditions, and Super controls for your usual picks. Then read later balance changes to see what followed the initial overhaul.
Similar damage numbers can hide very different gameplay. Consider which familiar Brawler now feels most different—and which old habit you need to change to use that kit well.
Regional and version notes
This is a history of selected 2022–2025 changes, not a complete account of later kits. Bibi’s September 2025 change and Meg’s 2023 rework have official historical references below. Meg and other picks received later changes too. Do not interpret the historical table as current balance or a complete modern loadout.
